Regardless of what happened with Dak having the support that he did, it's nevertheless pretty special anytime a rookie QB takes the helm of a team and leads them to a 13-3 season. Sure, he had a good situation with an outstanding OL and a RB who led the league in yardage but he also fulfilled his role and maintained an amazing statistical performance throughout his rookie season.

He'll be strongly tested this year vs. many contending teams and excellent QBs in only the sophomore year of his career. If Dak manages to help produce, let's say, a 10-6 record this season, I believe he will have asserted himself as a young QB who has shown strong signs of approaching elite status in the near future. Anything more than that and there may well be some well-founded conjecture that he's at that doorstep already.

Hell he almost pulled us back in that playoff game too.

Funny though, the same guys who will rip on him will laud the head of the Seattle busdrivers' union.

Yeah, I was going to say that despite the slow start, his play in the second half of the GB playoff game to bring us back from such a large deficit was Dak's most impressive feat last year. That game was a good example of "putting the team on his back" despite the loss. Everyone saying Dak will fall off because he's a game manager like RG3 and Foles in their first seasons need look no further than the GB playoff game.

"Manage games at a high level". I think that is a great way to put it.

I know people get upset when anyone calls him a bus driver, he was the ultimate for a rookie in taking what the defense gave him and not trying to go beyond his capabilities as a young QB in the NFL. He never tried to do too much and took as few of risk as possible. It was lot like the way Aikman played when he had the full offense of Irvin, Novacek, Smith, Harper and that Oline around him.

In the biggest game of his young career (playoff game), the Cowboys had to rely on Dak's arm to bring them back after falling way behind.

I guess the fact that the defense choked it away at the end of the game makes Dak's brilliance somewhat less meaningful, but the narrative that he didn't have to/couldn't win games for the team is misinformed.

-the Eagles game at home .. Dak had to perform at a very high level in the 4th qtr/OT to help us win
- the throw he made late in the 2nd quarter of the first Packers game that led to that quick touchdown COMPLETELY turned that game around for us
- Pittsburgh game, Dak really played big in the important moments. Zeke was a monster in that game as well though, so I think the national mediots will only give Zeke the credit for that win.

I'm sure there are more examples of this rookie QB coming up big when it really mattered, but these quickly come to mind.

Dak has a lot to learn and will only get better. But he was not carried to a 13-3 record, like a lot of media members like to claim.

well said and to boot.....a QB that has to carry his team says more about the team than the QB. Sometimes these talking heads need to fabricate news so they can hear themselves talk

Dak did what he was asked to do...and much more.

If people will recall, once Dallas had a great oline and run game, that's a lot of what Tony did in 2014.
Operate a very highly efficient level.
Granted, he did a bit more in 2014 than Dak did in 2016. But Dak was a rookie! He did a TON for a rookie.
Sky is the limit.

It's a true statement, but that says plenty positive about Dak as well. He stayed within himself as a rookie, and didn't lose games. That is a HUGE thing. His game was young, but his composure wasn't.

This season, much more will be on him. Eventually, he'll have to win games against top quarterbacks, which he didn't have to do last year.

To say Dak didn't have to beat any top QBs IMO is disingenuous. He won shootouts vs. Big Ben and Kirk Cousins, more than did his part against Joe Flacco, torched Stafford and the Lions, and was 1-1 vs. AR. And to blame Wentz's lackluster season on his subpar receivers? I guess they deserve some of the blame, but they didn't throw any of his 14 INTs.

When did Cowboys fans start giving a damn about what Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe have to say about anything let alone cowboy topics?

They're just there to suck you in.
So to quote the great Bill Parcells.

Consider yourself sucked.

Ben, Rodgers, cousins twice.....

Ben playing on a badly sprained ankle, Rodgers when he couldn't beat anybody and missed wide open players all game, and Cousins when he missed two wide open touchdowns in the first game.......why are we talking about Cousins. Dak is far better than that mental midget.

Surprised both Chris and Shannon backed Dak and slammed Doug.

Dak was more than a game manager last year and proved it coming from behind in multiple games. He knows how to answer which is a true sign of being more than a game manager as well. Dude proved he is clutch.

All they have to do is rollback one year and watch Cassel and Weedon, then think about what they just said.
