What Dak didn't do was throw the backbreaking INT. Romo is and always was a gun slinger and he was fun to watch because of it. However, with all the highlight reel plays also came a lot of bad throws and game cinching turnovers. Dak was steady. He may have not made the insane plays that Romo did, but he also didn't lose any. He took what the defense gave him and didnt force much and was very successful. That said, there were plenty of games we found ourselves down and he brought us back to the point that I almost felt like it was the early 90s again. I found myself expecting us to find a way to win every game which I haven't felt since then.
Barring some crazy regression, Dak is plenty good enough to take us home. Need any proof that a QB simply needs to not make big mistakes to win a SB? Look no further than Eli (x2), Flacco, Dilfer, and possibly Wilson ....just to name a few quite unspectacular QBs with rings. And I think Dak may be much better than all of those.

It is bad enough when you hear this from non Cowboy fans but to continually see it spewed from Cowboy fans over and over again is mindnumbing

This is evident by the fact that they were 30th in the league in pass attempts per game. Dak wasn't asked too much and came into one of the better situations for a rookie qb ever.

He played well in his limited role but the over rating has definitely gotten out of hand

He had the same stats basically as Romo did in 2014 and everyone here said it was an MVP year. So did we overrate Romo in 2014?

If they are looking at Dak that way.................Did Aikman with his in reallity : low passing yards numbers in comparrison to many with a ring, had Emmit, The Great Wall of the OLine, dang good Defense...........................did Aikman "have to win games for Dallas in the 90's..........

Romo's season was better than Dak's, he absolutely deserved to win the MVP that year. Tony was unstoppable that year.

And Dak had, arguably, the best QB rookie season of all time. He was definitely in the conversation.

when your first post is basically just to rip the QB, one has to wonder

not sure what "vaguely weak" means though,,,
I'm not sure how you saw that as ripping him. I listed a stat that would suggest he wasn't asked to carry a huge load.

They ran more than the majority of teams and threw less than the vast majority, I'd say that's a fair indicator that Dak wasn't asked too much (relatively speaking of course, he was still asked alot for a rookie qb)

Is this thread another one of those, " they could have won with any of our backups in Dak's place threads." Because that is about as original as, "anyone would have won the rushing title with Emmitt's oline" threads. Dak did what he was supposed to do, win, plain and simple. I'm fine with it, if they didn't ask him to win they didn't have to tell him not to lose which would have been the message for everyone else.

Everyone here knows Pederson is only making these comments because of the fact!
he wanted to be head coach of the year, Not Garret, while Wentz not Dak got rookie of
the year and the Eagles finished above us and NY instead of being dead last

but I get part of where he is coming from. rookies are supposed to make lots
of mistakes in their first yr, however it didn't happen under Dak and so the
Eagles suck and that's all I got to say about that

I mean sure, overall, he didn't have to put the team on his back to win games but there were games where he did. Such as that first Eagles game. Late in that game and in OT, it was Dak who pulled that out (granted, he played sloppily early and that's why we were down in the first place).

The first Eagles game, he never put the team on his back. He almost put them in the hole though. He was terrible for 4 quarters.

It was definitely overblown by the media and cowboys haters but there was some truth to it also.
He forced a lot of throws and most of the time the results were great but he threw some bad ones too and sometimes at the very worst time possible. He was a gunslinger and you take some bad with all the good. I hated the rep he got but unlike his gunslinging idol Favre, he was never able to get a ring so the label stuck. I love the guy to death but to say he didn't choke some games away in the clutch is revisionist.

no one ever mentions a "stat" in an innocuous way, there is always a reason for mentioning it, like how JJ Taylor loved to mention we hadn't won a playoff game between 1996 and 2009, sure it was a "fact" but it wasn't just thrown out other than as part of an argument.

Yes, there was a reason for bringing up the stat. To back up the point that was made. This is fairly simple stuff.

Dak not being asked to carry the team is illustrated by him having to throw less than pretty much every other starter. Should we just ignore stats and only post "MVP! Best ever!" for every player?

I think he did, but almost every fan I know from other teams think otherwise....for the most part.
