First, Romo owns the Eagles. Second, Orton threw TWO interceptions that game. People act like he played well that day, and all he did was dink and dunk and throw picks. Selective memories abound.

For whatever reason, the defense was good last year against Philly, and with Romo in there, that last game would have been a cakewalk in my opinion.

Orton did play well...until that last pick. So for most of the game we were happy with him, which leaves that impression. I agree that PHI game was surprisingly winnable. Mentally, I had chalked it up to a certain loss, and so was pleasantly surprised until that final pick, at which point I was more 'lol, Cowboys' than anything. That's unusual for me.

It would have been interesting to see what would have happened with Romo in there, for sure. Knowing how bad his back was, though, it almost didn't matter very much if we advanced or not, though it would have been nice for the offseason around here to have actually won the East and been to a playoff game, as it would have bought the majority here another year of patience with the current direction of the team.

All he did was dink and dunk when he threw for almost 350 yards? Also, he did play well in that game. He got the defense to jump offsides several times, he got rid of the ball very fast, etc. He did well for not starting a game since 2011. Ultimately, he choked at the end though. Same thing Romo would have done.

Excellent post. Orton did play well in that game. Murray had a very costly fumble early on in the redzone and that first interception that was thrown to Witten was technically Orton's fault for being behind Witten but it was also a lazy attempt by Witten. The last one was 100% on Orton. At the end of the day he choked but still played a pretty good game considering he hadn't started since 2011 and it was a high pressure game.

Orton did not really play well, although I do maintain his performance was acceptable under the circumstances he was placed in. He only completed maybe 4 or 5 passes all game long that the defense did not say, "we are perfectly fine with you going there". His inability to hold the ball for more than a few seconds meant basically no chance of any big plays against a horrible Eagles pass defense. And of course, 2 unfortunate interceptions when as a team we only had 10 in 15 games. Orton gets a D.

I don't worry too much about what either Stephen A. or Skip say but they could be right. We are now in the middle of the pact talent wise with a coach who is incapable of getting more out of less and actually cost us games with poor clock / game management. The sad thing is this team was stacked from 2007 - a few years ago and we wasted that talent on subpar coaching.

It was a combination of poor coaching. Overrated talent and an inability to fix the OL in time. Really a disaster from the top all the way down.

most likely teh same thing, the eagles knew ROmo, Orton was a bit different. Either way they took care of business, Dallas decided to not take the season serous.

Again, the team has never finished in the NFC East clear or even with a losing record when Romo has been the QB most of the season.

Maybe not a cakewalk but I agree, Romo plays that game and we win, no doubt in my mind.

The D played maybe the best game of the season (except the first game vs the Eagles), give Romo and the O that kind of performance 16 weeks and we win 10 or 11 games.

Orton's play was acceptable, even good for a backup QB but comparing him to Romo is ridiculous to say the least.
