Smart money says we will not need AP if Hardy signs

I made this comment in another topic, but will repeat it here. I think if Dallas signs Hardy, then it greatly DECREASES the chance of seeing AP on the team. Bringing in one guy that is coming off big trouble is one thing...that can be dealt with. But, bringing in two guys that are both coming off some pretty horrendous incidents might be more than one team can handle. Or at least more than one team wants to deal with.

I'm right there with you. It'd be fun to own Adrian...but with that not likely to happen give me Gurley.

Now if it was Marcus Peters and Adrian vs Gurley and cap space....

It gets tough eh?

Good one. Man... Good one.

Also, you would think we would be pushing cap limits if Dez doesn't get signed long term, like Bark mentioned.....

Regardless, I love signing Hardy, he himself may not get a bunch of sacks, but he is going to open it up for the other guys to get some pressure, and help out the secondary.

So I am not complaining!! But the RB position needs to be addressed. And if whoever we draft steps up and wins the position , then fine.

But I would rather they be aggressive and get AP. Hardy, AP...... that is being aggressive enough for me..... That wins the NFCE for us....and most likely a SB appearance...imho.

The NFL is full of guys with questionable backgrounds....Patriots had a murderer on their team. They got burnt on that one....

edit: I should say suspected Murderer....

Depends on who's available, clearly. Right???

Yes, but it won't be a RB. Not worth the 1st round pick. I'd get the best defensive player available no matter the position unless there's an offensive line guy there that's rates higher than them all.

If we sign Hardy as all indications seem positive, then it would be smart of us to draft the best RB available IN THE THIRD OR FOURTH ROUND

We sign them for 5 years at a much great savings then AP would costs on the cap.

Take the savings and sign Ro.

..........FIXED IT FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Signing Hardy doesn't change my approach one bit to this draft. The primary goal this offseason is to create unrelenting pursuit of the QB on every play by our defense. Draft whoever is the highest rated player on your board that will achieve the primary goal.

Gurley or Gordon with our Oline would be dominant for the next five years
we would have to draft some offensive help but the foundation is laid

Hmm. Interesting.

I personally do not want a RB in round 1, but can live with Gurley or Gordon if that is where we go.

I suspect that the Peterson rumors will not die until it is settled. Nor should they. I don't hear him saying he is staying. Not even after his meeting with the owner in NYC, and not after the HC and GM went to his home. Greg Jennings doesn't expect him to remain a Viking.

Until I hear he's a Viking, or belongs to someone else. Don't put me down for betting on the smart money.

Not yet anyway.

I want Peterson in Dallas...

I have to admit, now Hardy seems on board, I'd start to think AP would be worth a shot. Has to be at the right price and short term though.

No!

Seats are all taken, no room for you on this bandwagon!

What does Peterson do? Makes our already damn good offense a little better?

What does Hardy do? Makes our barely serviceable defense ALOT better!

Don't care for either, but I take Hardy 10 out of 10 times over old Peterson.

Peterson is a Dumb move. We won't make it.

I sure hope this is the route we take, unless AP is so willing to play for us he gives a hometown discount.

If they take Gurley at 27, that would be a terrible pick. RBs are not worth 1st round picks anymore. If you do get one that high, they better storm out the gate like Peterson's rookie year.

I still go defense at that spot or even another young OL. We can find a RB in the 3rd round.

Yes go DT or Olineman in the first round. Continue to build the trenches. Duke Johnson (RB) in the third round would be a solid selection.

I would still go D at 27.

We have to go D on both our first 2 picks.

In fact..at 27..

I can see us trading back to the top part of the 2nd rd. and picking up another draft pick to help the defense.

Then we can afford to take a RB if one drops down to there with that extra pick.

But to me..

we have to add to the DL like we have with the OL if the team is going to compete at the expected levels in '15.

Marinelli can't keep us in games forever with smoke and mirrors and journeymen players.

We lack a stud DL, CB and safety.

Perhaps another LBer, too.

What folks need to understand is that this team wants to be a run first team now. Are they going to be comfortable going into a season in which they are supposed to contend for a Super Bowl with McFadden and a rookie carrying the load? Barring major injuries, AP just about guarantees a deep playoff run.....

I tend to side on the idea of you don't draft a running back in the first round unless it's a once a decade running back. (ie, like Peterson, Sanders, Dickerson, Brown, etc) I could have added Emmitt in that, but while most people liked him coming out, I don't believe anyone thought he would end up as great as he was.

On the plus side, we don't draft until late in the 1st round which makes drafting a RB in the first round much more acceptable than in the first half of the first. That said, I would ALWAYS look for line of scrimmage players first.

Yep. The value of RBs are greater in those rounds. Very cheap and you get to use your other picks to build the weak links of this team.
