So you want to cut Rector off the practice squad or keep 6 active WR's?

If you want 6 active, who goes?

Please explain why you have such a bug up your backside over Stanback?

We need to keep T.O., Glenn, Crayton, Hurd, and Stanback, on the active roster.

I do not care who we keep on practice squad.

because we needed to draft a WR and we drafted stanback instead.

i know i know - it's stupid. but most discussions with eduncan tend to not be based in a reality most of us are familiar with.

Who do you think we should cut? Hurd? Austin?

In order for this project player to make the active roster, someone has to go.
I'm not attached to any particular player...well, maybe Folk ;) so it doesn't bother me who gets cut.

The team will evaluate the players and make their decisions based on their observations and keep those who they believe has performed and has upside.

If Hurd or Austin gets cut, then so be it.

But my guess is we'll keep TO, Glenn, Crayton, Hurd, Austin, Stanback as WRs.

i'll answer your question once more - yes, he plays WR now. : )

Iceberg,

You do realize the first two preseason games are near meaningless. Particulary the second half when its mostly guys that are about to be cut!

Since it was a classic JJ draft reach, I have no doubt JJ keeps him in some capacity.

i realize a lot of things. i also realize that when you draft a long term project you give him...longer to develop.

but the instant gratification society needs to see something NOW or it's a bad move; wasted pick, "classic jj draft reach".

and you do realize that at least 2 other teams were going for stanback around the same time? if a classic jj reach, we'd be talking 2-3 rounds later, not their very next pick.

some people need to quit drinking the hateraide and realize jones can get omsething right at times.

It's funny that Jones must have had Ireland talk up Stanback to the media, to make it look like it was someone Jeff really liked/wanted.

JJ has final say now that Parcells left on draft picks. Ireland may obviously have had input on the player. That was A classic JJ silly draft pick. He could have had that project 2-3 rounds later. Lis Franc injury and change of position questions.

Time will tell.

some people are so jaded they can only see what they allow themselves to see and there *IS* no other story. PERIOD.

as for the stupid statement of 2-3 rounds later, 2-3 other teams were going to take him in that round. so no, he could NOT have but don't let facts kill your dream man.

John, Jerry always had the final say on Draft picks and personnel moves. Even during the Parcells era. He's said this many times.

It was a gamble. No guts, no glory. If it pays off, it pays off big given the kid's unreal athletic abilities. This isn't the equivalent of Rod Hill because that was a 1st round pick versus a 4th in this case.

The Cowboys had 3 players targeted in the 4th round. Doug Free, Isaiah Stanback, and Zak DeOssie. Their calls around the league told them someone had Stanback pegged as their pick before it got to the pick they used to take Free. His upside was deemed to be the highest so he was selected. They wanted DeOssie with the Free Pick, but ended up with Free.

They're happy and I don't blame them. I live in Pac 10 country as you know and I've seen this kid play several times.

It really isn't a reach though it is a gamble. A good one IMO.

It's pretty sad if all anyone has is hate to keep warm on a cold winter night! ;)

I'm may not know much about talent but Stanback has already shown more (intangibles) in his limited time than Austin. Austin hasn't even shown that he can catch the ball consistently let alone run disciplined routes.

If it came down to Austin and Stanback I'm going to take Stanback.
