So is Jerry cheap? Does Jerry cave? Did Jerry get taken to the cleaners?

No, Jerry is not cheap and never has been. He has a history of paying his players a lot of money. But he chooses not to spend that money on free agents from other teams. It's not cheap, it's irrational.

Correct. I worked in a union shop for many many years.......you have to merely "appear" to be working to maintain one's job

TSA is a perfect example that many can relate to.....never have so many underacheivers collected so many benefits.
Dude, I can't even begin to complain. I do less work than them by far. I've been in both private and state unions for over 35 years. Most private unions work you. You earn your pay. State union, like I'm in now, I work harder sitting on a toilet bowl. I do almost nothing for 65k plus a year. And that's bottom of the barrel pay.

I’d guess most fans here weren’t in the top 10 in their class and highly recruited by universities.

I had several in my accounting classes which were on Price Waterhouse( top accounting firm) fast track looking at 6 -7 figure salaries right out of college. And this was 40+ years ago.

Some fans don’t realize how much these top minds are in demand in the workplace . Same goes for medical and law practices .

And they don’t have to pay for their educations either. Much like the top athletes .

Jerry once again reinforces the idea that players can win by holding out. Get ready for the Micah parsons "40M per year or Cabo" holdout next summer.

It's completely ridiculous.

Try going to your job and refuse to work until they give you a raise and just hang out with everybody else that's working.....they'd have you escorted off the premises.

Pro sports are fantasy land where the lunatics run the asylum and in no way shape or form represent real places of employment.

Perhaps Hollywood would be the closest comp to pro sports.....more fantasyland
Not even Hollywood, because there is another actor who will draw about as many watchers. Maybe the top 5 or so most popular.

I have been saying for weeks, that there was zero chance Lamb was going to sign before Jefferson. Jefferson and Lamb have the same agent. Many in here have been saying Jerry is too dumb and should have signed Lamb months ago. Others have said he is too cheap and doesnt want to pay his players.

So now that we see that Lamb got the 2nd largest non QB contract in history, is Jerry cheap?
Was the amount and number of years predictable? I say yes... if you look back at many of us and our thoughts, we said 4 years was gonna be the length. We said below Jefferson was going to be the amount. So are these contracts actually pretty predictable?

Jamar Chase is sitting in, and reportedly wants 4 years at 160 million. So what is he going to get? Is he actually going to miss games and get those fines? Or is this going to go down the predicted path?

How are the niners doing with their tackle and Ayiuk? I hear they have a top notch front office.
Oh, by the way........ is Lamb still "Mad" at Jerry? Will he put the Cowboys back on social media now? bahaha

:hammer:

Yup, but only the top of the top.
I think some people can't wrap their head around the fact star players are dealt with differently. The #53 player on a roster tries to hold out or hold in, he gets cut, but a star #1 WR is not getting cut. Jimmy cut a player that was sleeping during a meeting to send a message and when asked what if Troy slept thru a meeting. Jimmy said he'd get him a pillow.......lol

I don't think this should be allowed. If I went to work and said, I'm not doing anything, I'd be sent home without pay. If they don't want to participate, they should be sent home and fined.
There is no doubt that the owners will get this changed. Holding out and finding a way to avoid the fines will not be allowed fo rmuch longer as this practice is going to grow. The intent behind the fines was clear... if you are under contract you show up for work, and actually work.

well, you are right. Pro sports is in no way comparable to real jobs. So I NEVER try to use analogies with normal people and athletes. They fall completely flat and make no sense.

There are other professions which have to cater to these divas and sought after talents .

Much like the off field problem players. Only the best talents are tolerated. The rest are dumped.
One of my favorite Jimmy Johnsons stories goes like this:

Jimmy was asked what he would do if a special teams players fell aslepp at a team meeting. Jimmy respnded by saying he would cut his *** on the spot.

He was then asked what he would do if Emmitt Smith Fell asleep at a team meeting.

Jimmy said, I would stand up and yell out to everyone, Nap time!

 :thumbup:No owner gets taken to the cleaners in the NFL. All sides win in this trade.CeeDee was always going to get the second biggest contract in wide receiver history. Jerry got the media coverage he wanted. CeeDee will get two full weeks of practice before the Cleveland game. Finally there will be a big press conference at the Star.

The claim about Jerry doing this to get media coverage is so ridiculous/ Jerry gets media coverage if he chose a new brand of TP.

all owners in the NFL get taken to the cleaners but that's the market rate. He did exactly what needed to be done. No one questions his desire to get his guys paid etc . What they question is GM JERRY. Stevie Jones on the other hand IS cheap. At least Jerry has won Huge games as an owner/gm. Stevie has shown time and time again hes terrible at the GM stuff and cap. Jerry may be senile now mostly, but he has more prowess in his pinky finger than his son does when it comes to running an NFL TEAM.

Jerry played all the media and fans once again like he does every year this time of year. Negative attention to the team is a win win. It achieves the same thing, REVENUE,CLICKS. Jerry is a master at this. He might be senile ** sometimes, but he still has enough wit about him to garner attention of any kind. It makes him money. the MSM fall for the bait and switch everytime.

The Cowboys signed CeeDee the day before the team returns to the practice field in Dallas. Two days before the night practice at the Star. Yes this is all about media coverage.
