Adreme was making the claim in the game thread that starting Lance was a violation of the sunken cost fallacy. In order for there to be a sunken cost fallacy it necessarily entails there is something to lose by starting him. We literally lose nothing by starting Lance over Rush.
Even during Rush’s 5-1 span as a starter, he relied heavily on the run game and a solid defense. The run game being effective allowed for him to have consistently open passing lanes to make a throw, but even then anyone watching him throw could see this guy barely has passable arm strength for an NFL QB, and even for a back up that is bad. People talk about having a high football IQ as being an imperative for a QB, and it is, but the first thing any QB has to to be able to do is make NFL throws consistently and Rush can’t do that. He does not have the arm strength.
Lance does have the arm strength and minimally that puts him above Rush in my book. You can be smart, read defenses effectively, and know the game like a master but if you can’t physically get the ball where it needs to be, you can’t play QB in the NFL.
