So, we will have 2 new starting WR, 2 new starting offensive tackles, a new starting LG, 1 new starting DE and Jerry really thinks it matters if Tyron gets healthy for the playoffs. LOL, just LOL.......Get ready for no first round pick next year, Payton will be the Cowboys HC. History has repeated its self, he hired 3 moron HCs in between Jimmy and Bill, now he has done the same since Bill cause if he doesn't it's his *** on the line in the media.
I certainly could be dead wrong…but I strongly believe there is NO WAY Sean Payton is the next HC of the Dallas Cowboys. The way that guy has been a HC in the past allowed him to have authority over the locker room, roster, and other areas that most NFL HCs have…except in Dallas.

In order for Sean Payton or any other big name NFL head coach to come here, major changes will need to happen in the way this organization is run. Folks this organization is an outlier. NFL head coaches who are used to having normal HC authority don’t come to Dallas.

Of the 8 head coaches Jerry Jones has hired, only two ever had the authority of a normal NFL HC- Jimmy and the Big Tuna. And the only reason Parcells had it was because JJ was preoccupied with building his stayjum.

If Sean Payton is coming to Dallas it means Jerry has decided to take a lesser role. Anybody here believe that’s happening?

Jerry doesn't force you to root for the cowboys. One can leave there thousands that replace you. Why root for a team that seems to make you miserable? Sports is entertainment allow yourself to be entertained not be consumed by something you can't control. Some of you sound like them parents who get in fights at your kids games.

Firing one coach who won his only Super Bowl with a Hall of Fame QB and hiring another one who won his only Super Bowl with a Hall of Fame QB isn’t going to make any difference, especially considering Sean Payton quit his last team because he was burned out. McCarthy’s last Super Bowl win was more recent than Sean Payton’s.You fans who continue to ride the Sean Payton bandwagon are going to be very disappointed because he won’t be coaching the Cowboys in 2023. He’s already worked as a coach under Jerry Jones. Besides Jerry is never going to fork over the kind of money it’s going to take to lure Sean Payton to Dallas. There was a report the Dolphins offered him $20 million per season. McCarthy is currently making $4 million per. If Sean Payton returns to coaching next season he’ll be making 10+ million easy! Jerry isn’t about to pay that kind of money for another spectator on the sidelines who has little control. Lol

As the same token, the Cowboys FO does far less than what's required to ensure their continued success on the field, especially in the playoffs. The Cowboys fanbase was established long before the Jones faction ever decided to buy the team. There are many thousands of faithful fans who have been emotionally invested in that team long before the Jones family bought it. Many of those fans are no longer around but what's left still amounts to a majority of the total.

Unfortunately, all have been left to see a once proud franchise devolve into what it's become today. There's a big difference between parents who fight over their kids' games and the many fans who support the team, come what may. It's not like they don't exist and don't deserve to have a better product to ensure their continued support. Most of their fans these days are limited to being entertained but continue to support them anyway.

Im lucky to have experienced the super bowls. But I'm just as entertained now. I get disappointed and at time disgusted but I don't let it consume me. It's just a game.

Let's also bear in mind that many of the fans who are patrons of this website are true fans, whereas many others here are fans of other teams.

All here are welcomed and are free to express their opinions, whether they're loyal Cowboys fans or not. It's what's evolved in recent decades.

I actually want Quinn over Payton

Here's the catch, however -- regardless of who holds the HC position, Jerry and Stephen will still wield the power to make GM decisions that Will McClay isn't empowered to attend to. That power encompasses enough say-so to serve as a conduit of misfortune.

Therein lies the festering problem that will indefinitely be likely to continue, as long as the Jones family runs the team. Try as they may, they're simply not qualified to serve as GMs. Such a privilege would best be left to longtime football professionals with the experience to serve as in the GM capacity. Additionally, Will McClay is only left to do what the FO allows and subject to Jerry's and Stephen's interference.

Let's face it, Dan Quinn is excellent, left to serving as the DC, but serving as an HC is a different animal, entirely. As an HC, he'd be assigned to attend to far more than serving as the DC. He tried being an HC in Atlanta with the Falcons with results that weren't nearly as impressive as he had as a DC. It's not necessarily wise to assume he'd succeed in a totally different circumstance. His responsibilities as the head coach would be seriously altered.

My hope is with the higher talent level on the team it seems Jerry and company have backed away from personnel a bit and are focusing just on financial ends.
As far as Quinn goes I'm hoping he has learned a lesson that even as a head coach he needs to be hands on like he is as a DC. the players love him and I think both offense and defense will play their hearts out for him and that's all you need when you have talent.

The only reason Payton would even consider coming here is for his last FAT paycheck before he retires.
Hold a small cup for any expectations you might have with him taking over as coach cause Jones aren't going anywhere and meddling is their best qualification!!!

Sean isn't a young man anymore. He may prefer the cush lifestyle of being a TV analyst. I do beleive this will be MM last year in Dallas, though. I just don't think Sean Payton is the next HC. I think its Dan Quinn.

Last I checked Sean had an Elite QB for many years and has 1 SB win he backed into.. Had much talent and couldn't get it done largely. Why do folks think he can walk on water? I guess I just don't get it. This guy let things get way out of control in New Orleans with scandals...ie with the pills, the Gregg Williams stuff...on and on...and we THINK this guy will suddenly change the culture here? NO SALE. He is fools gold. I feel that ship sailed years ago. We need 2 move on.

Ok, give the guy his due. He found Romo for us. He took an injured Drew Brees that SD did not want to re-sign and turned him into a first ballot HOF QB. When Brees arrived in New Orleans, he wasn't even considered a pro bowl QB. Sean Payton absolutely gets the credit for coaching up Drew Brees and designing an offense around his talents. He also won a super bowl in New Orleans which was a backwater franchise that had never contended for anything prior to his arrival. We used to celebrate seeing the Saints on our schedule until he got there.

So, he is a future HOF coach. That being said, I don't think he can duplicate his success in Dallas. No HC has ever lead to 2 organizations to a super bowl. Its never been done. So, asking him to come here and win a super bowl is setting the bar at making history while being saddled with Jones boys around his neck. No way he signs up for it.

Don’t be so sure Payton will cost a first

there were reports earlier that a deal for Payton could have been had for a second rounder

…….yup, my sources are saying a 2nd rounder and 2 slaps to the mouth get the deal done.
