They said Spencer was a two week injury six weeks ago.

So, is this Spence dodging training camp, or is he more injured than he said?

I think Jerry should have done something about Rat after his episode last year.

Now we are relying on people who don't practice to make a team with a new scheme better if and when they play.

I'll reserve judgment until the first game to see who shows up and who is in civilian clothes, but for sure I am not pleased about this turn of events.

Spencer is out. His backup Crawford is out for the season. He'll be replaced by a guy we picked up off the streets a few weeks ago who has been inconsistent this preseason. We'll see what happens.

So when is Spencer going to come back?

I don't think anybody on the first string defense has really been inconsistent this season. You referring to Selvie, of all people here?

By all accounts I've heard, Spencer is behind schedule but expected to be back for the Giants in week one.

Validation? LOL at the irony.

Still an unhappy puppy because I wanted to see some validation you knew what you were talking about?

Just hit the archives and read all his lollipop posts regarding the OL last year, that will sink any thoughts of his validation for good,,,

Meanwhile, back in reality, I think the odds are good that we get some quality playing time out of Spencer this year. There is incentive for him and it appears they are just being cautious with him. Ratliff on the other hand is hard to read. His last set of injuries seem almost chronic.

I don't think anyone expected Spencer back from a knee scope in 2 weeks.

I would think that Rat and Spencer have the least to learn regarding the new scheme (their positions); spencer is rush the passer and contain the outside, rat is provide pressure to the QB and plug up the middle

sure, that is WAY over-simplified, but it is not like the LB's or secondary that have to be in the right place at the time (and quickly)

I've heard nothing about Spencer missing the Giant game. Rat maybe so, but nothing on Spencer.

I believe Spencer will be back in week 1. He's not coming back next season and thus, he doesn't want to be in preseason and TC. Happens all of the time in the NFL with just about every team.

I'm thinking that they know that Ratliff is likely gone after this season as well and at his age they don't need to push it.

I'm more concerned with Claiborne's attitude. I thought Parcells had the best policy. If you were hurt, he would let you sit out of practice, but you would go thru hard exercise drills on the parts of your body that are not hurt. After a while, guys would rather be on the field than do those exercises and they would magically be alright.

I don't think we will see spencer either week 1.

He had a knee scope but he also was allowing a hairline fracture to heal and apparently that is the holdup. Only rest can help it and that is why he is not being rushed either.

Spencer is dodging training camp. Bone spures don't happen instantaneously throu injury. They develope throu inflamation over a long time.
He was aware of the injury and timed the op for TC.

And to be honest i see Ratliff the same way. To me those players are not the players we should build our team on. Not the RKGs. I hope we find a better solution on both positions an can get rid of them soon.

When will people learn that when the team says 2-4 weeks, that means at least 4 weeks and probably more. It's been that way for 8-10 years now.

Spencer, Claiborne, and Leary are expected back for the Giants game. Ratliff is close, but 50/50 for the Giants.

Amazing that we may have 100 percent of our starters in Game 1.

Spencer was always going to miss preseason i don't know where people are getting the 2 weeks from. Go back a month and read the injury update, it's always said should be ready for week 1

Why can't you just answer somebody's question, if you know the answer, and if it's too lame for you to answer, just don't post.

The last report on Spencer was when he originally having the procedure and that report stated that he'd be ready. So that's what we'll go on.

Mickey stated last night that his fracture is not healed, his knee from the scope is ready to go but the fracture needs more rest. Mickey basically said it seems he will not play and Jerry on the CBS 11 pregame said it seems like Ratliff will not be ready, so with Jerry saying that it seems he is out.
I hope Claiborne is ok. It's going to be a shootouts as it is.

Without Ratliff, spencer and Claiborne Eli manning is going to go nuts on opening night. The 2007 opener all over again, just have to hope we can out score them.

Eli was 8-for-20 last night for 82 yards against the Jets. This defense won't give up the number of 80-yard TDs that the 2007 team did. Giants don't have many weapons outside of Nicks and Cruz. Let them get their yards between the 20s and then lock them down. Plus they have OL problems.

That means nothing. He is an excellent quarterback with an excellent staff.

They will find a weakness and target it and force us to adjust like they always do. They have what looks to be a very good back in Wilson.

Manning will throw it all over against us like he a,ways does. We are going to have to limit touchdowns to field goals and not give up the big play which they are excellent at. Which by the way is a function of having a good qb with a very good staff.

Without Ratliff and spencer we will have limited pressure and later in the game I don't trust guys like selvie/Hayden deep into the game.

We will have to out score them.
