So we're just supposed to forget the whole Mingo for a 4th rounder?

Trading for a WR (which everyone said we needed) and getting a WR1 doesn't get us closer to a championship?
how? we were top scoring offense two years ago. and lost in first round of playoffs. we have been high scoring offense in the past and none of it has come to anything. our defense is smoke and mirrors and has been bad against the run for years. invest in defense. fix the defense. I would have rather traded for a defensive player, than WR2.

is this team going to win superbowl this year? are they contenders? how do they stack against rest of NFC and top teams in AFC?

remember, this is a one year rental..... if we don't win superbowl or worse yet, don't make playoffs and Pickens is gone. it was a bad trade.

but go ahead with your bad self. hang a banner, put the Trade Trophy on the mantle and shine it up. celeberate. throw a party.
You don’t know it’s a 1 year rental so quick stating lies.

We did get a few new lbs a couple cbs and a couple dts. As well as a really nice pass rusher and Fowler. I'm not sure who will work out and how the scheme change will come into play but we have at least made some moves.

This was Philly's trade for Dotson:

Wash gets a 3rd and two 7ths
Phi gets Dotson and a 5th

Terrible trade for Philly and I'd rather have the Mingo trade. Whether or not it pans out remains to be seen but it's not the worst trade in the world either.
Dotson is a proven #2/3 type WR. What was so terrible about it?

I agree, but in a watered down league, anything can happen if you can compete. I still have the terrible taste in my mouth after being fed lies last year time and time again about being all in. Think about it, they purposely let a hc,most of the staff, the fans, the team, suffer due to the GB game and how we lost. The most selfish cringey thing Jerry has ever done while owning the team was what we witnessed in 2024. He now wants us to love him lol...he created the problem, rides in on his white horse, attempts to fix the problems HE CREATED, knowingly. This is why fans have serious doubts about anything we do. Good or bad. I understand it completely. I'm cautiously optimistic.
It's not as random as "anything can happen" or it would have happened sometime in the past 29 years. Some organizations are clearly better than Dallas at managing the cap, free agency, trades, and the draft beyond round 1.

I don't think Jerry was punishing anyone last year. He was angry and at a loss. He didn't know what to do or which direction to go. So he did nothing. He ended up rewarding the guy most responsible for the GB loss (Dak). So if he was going to punish anyone, it should have been him.

that fourth could have gotten us a better RB for starters
or maybe a better DT
so anyone thinking it was worthless is an idiot
Joshua Farmer went late in the 4th. He is a great prospect who could've dramatically improved our D.

CAR took Trevor Etienne w/ the pick they got from us. Excellent RB prospect who in all likelihood would have immediately been the best RB on the roster. And would've been a much better player to have than Bingo.

It was an odd trade at the time, but it still surprises me fans get so upset shipping off a 4th round pick for a player that was a 2nd round pick a year and a half prior, fell out of favor in a dysfunctional offense, but showed some potential the year prior.

To your point they atleast took a swing, it's not trending as a hit but let's see if he can compete after a full offseason here.
It's not that. It's throwing away draft picks for nothing.

yet debbie downers are allowed to litter the board with negative posts day after day and expect no rebuttals? I get it 30 years is a long time but hopefully the downers aren't this way as they approach life. Its too short and so is the football season. I choose to embrace it as positive as I can. Do I think we should be snotty with each other ? No but I understand how and why people can be sick of the negativity.
We're talking about personal attacks, not posts that aren't agreeable to you. You can tell the difference, right?

I know because of what was available in the draft. He has the ability to play. He can contribute.
Not true. There were a ton of good prospects available in the 4th. Two were already pointed out in Farmer and Etienne. Gunnar Helm, Woody Marks.

Hey, I'm rooting for Mingo to suddenly get it, he does have great physical skills.

Fortunately, there are a lot of really good, intelligent and fair fans here. Which ironically seems to fuel their rage even more.
There are fans who are realistic. There are fans who are delusional. There are fans that have been burnt. There is all.kids of fans. Nothing wrong with any of them.

I'll tell you when I watch. If we give up 35 points, there will be plenty of blame to go around. I'll take 31 points a game by our offense, will you?
I take 31. But if defense doesn't do their part. If our run defense isn't improved it doesn't matter. Good defenses will neutralize the offense. Post season is where it all matters.

Detroit had a great offense. Top seed. And Washington dismantled their defense.

It's not that. It's throwing away draft picks for nothing.
I get that view, but most day 3 picks don't end up working out either. They gave up a 4th for a player that showed some promise the prior year when he was a 2nd round pick. Yes he was trending in a poor direction and we probably over paid by a round for what he was showing, but I really don't want to harp over a trade for a day 3 pick.

In the history of Cowboys trades the Mingo trade is a small blip vs some of the others made.
