I think the commish is going to drop the hammer and make other teams think twice before cheating.

I say draft picks, probably a #2 and #4

Belicheat suspended 4 games.

Thats my prediction, what do yall think???

I say he should drop the forfeit hammer and give the victory to the Jets. That would be hilarious and is definitely a possibility.

They should keep the win... but it doesnt count as a division win.

Bullicheat gets 4 games suspension.

Kraft gets a fine.

BB suspension, maybe a suspension of the Patriot scouting program, banned from the senior bowl and combine for their misconduct, that would teach them a serious lesson.

Icing on the cake is that every team has incentive to play them harder now, nobody wants to lose to a crowned cheater.

sorry guys but what you all are suggestion has no teeth...

taking a pick or two...whooped dee doo...HELLO Free agency send me two players because you are the next beneficiaries of the cheat is right...

suspend Belli for 4 games...BWAHAHAHA:lmao2: Wade Wilson got 5 and a 100K for taking a legal yes it was legal (though banned for NFL PLAYERS) substance to help him with the quality of his LIFE and you all suggest 4 games for something that causes a competitive imbalance...please

this is a vagrant violation of NFL competition rules...

anything less than a year suspension for BB and anything less than a 5 year banned on all 1st round picks, plus a 10 million Salary cap reduction for 3 years is too leinent... that should be were the minimum sentence should start

This is akin to an organizational system to administer steroids to its players or a team's coaches betting on a game theyre playing in.

The fist thing is the camera man and whoever gave him those instructions needs to be banned from the game. if it was Belichek then buh-bye. Then the HC needs to be suspended for a game and the team needs to lose a first day draft pick.

I agree... he might come down harder than that if u think about how they were probally using the video!!! All u have to do is Bundle up simular plays with each other and have a monkey match up the corresponding coaches clips... that Bomb to Moss was very curious, what was route was that?

the fact that they got caught on the first game of the year v. a team that has a former asst. who probally watched the cheating first hand... tells me alot!!! Bcheat planned to use this the enitre season!!!

Now I see why the PATS really dont resign key Vets!!!

Significant fine, Day 1 draft pick, suspension of coach for at least a couple of games.

I'm in the minority here, but this is something that everyone's making a much bigger deal than what it really is. It just seems like there's nothing of news value this week, so this gets pumped up for no reason.

Even Keith Olbermann hasn't said anything about it on Countdown-either in his top 5 stories or in his "Worst Persons"(which yes, even Tom Coughlin and Barry Bonds have managed to make along with Bill O).

The New England Patriots should be banned from the NFL from now until the time that the Earth crashes into the sun.

Doubt it wil be much more than a first day pick.....

I am pretty sure that this is one of those things that all teams do to an extent, but the Patriots just happened to get caught doing it. Goodell will want to send a message but he won't be ridiculous about it. Just a first day pick and maybe a game or two suspension for Bellicheck......

I would do the same, they cheated and have done it in the past. Any less, like a minor suspension would send the wrong message.

Isn't this just basic, caught cheating and you forfeit the game ?

Perhaps bar the OWNER from the stadium on game day for the rest of the season... that would hurt, and make the boss a lot less likely to sit still for cheating...

I mean, in addition to the punishments already mentioned by some of y'all-- loss of at least one quality pick, and one or two second day picks, a suspension for Billy B, and a fine that will make them choke...

But making the owner pay by denying him the right to watch his team live would be the icing on the cake, IMO...

It is difficult to imagine that a Patriots employee would videotape the opposition's signals without the full knowledge and consent (if not under the direct order) of the Patriots head coach.

For me, it is difficult not to think of the Wade Wilson suspension when considering the sanctions for the Patriots.

If Belichek knew of the signal stealing, let alone ordered it, Belichek's suspension should be greater than what Wilson got. Other coaches within their organization who participated in this should also get suspensions. And if that means that there isn't but one or two coaches left on their sidelines for the rest of the season, that's tough cookies. Make the organization play the games without a full coaching staff..

As far as draft pick penalties go, two consecutive drafts without a 1st round draft pick would be the minimum. That's basically what happened to the Cowboys as a result of the Joey Galloway trade ... and there is little doubt that those missing picks really hurt the franchise.

If Goodell has any integrity at the very least a 1st round pick + other lesser round picks and a HUGE fine. If he's light on Bellichick he's a fraud because he's come down on players so hard which in all honesty pales in comparison to what Belicheck might have done. Seriously, if Bellichick is willing to cheat for the 1st game of the season, *** do you think he'd do to win a superbowl?

I can't believe folks here! Michael Vick was innocent until proven guilty. Belichick should be suspended for 8 games? That wsa more than most wanted for Vick commiting felonies!

If your coaching staff is dumb enough to get their signals stolen, then they deserve it. Anyone seriously believe that this is worse than using steroids or cocaine? Anyone seriously believe the Pats are the only team doing this? If your answer to that was yes, ask yourself why they voted down radios for the Mike backer?

One fact: Teams use signs so the other team won't know what they are doing. They change signs throughout the year because they believe the other team is trying to steal them. If you know the other team is trying to steal your signs, you take precautions to prevent it. You don't run out and grab the guy trying to steal your signs and take him to the league officials.

2: Many here feel snitching is as bad as criminal conduct, so why is what the Jets did not snitching?

3: Signs are made to be stolen. I know of baseball team that assign the players on the bench to specific job of stealing signs. Baseball teams don't cry about it, why should tough guy NFL teams whine?

4: Fine the organization, not the coach. Unless you have proof that this was a Belichick thing, and not an organizational thing, Why target the coach? Why not the owner?

5: Everyone wants to see the Pats knocked down. They are, purportedly, the best team in the NFL. Would anyone have cared if it was the Raiders, or Browns?

6: I would love to see what it would have been like if it had been the Commanders instead of hte Jets. Gibbs would have had a stroke by now.

It gets kind of tiring hearing "everyone is doing, therefore it's ok..." rationalization when they're trying to support someone or an organization because it's so vacuous.

What the Pats did was against the rules. They were in violation and they got caught. They've been suspected of it before, other teams have complained about it, but they still flaunted the rule, and now they have to suffer the consequences.

The fact is the Pats used a competitive advantage that has been deemed illegal. Therefore, this puts a cloud of doubt surrounding the legitimacy of their victories and championships depending upon how far back it goes, as well as this idea that they are a class organization.

This is so much more egregious than anything that Wade Wilson did, or what a player did outside of the league because it puts the league's integrity into question. And once people start questioning the latter, you're in trouble.
