So... Where are all our chicken littles?

I think the Chicken littles are in the same place the koolaid drinkers will be after a loss.

I hate both terms and think each is ridiculous. Getting called chicken little because you don't buy into the notion that all is perfect is stupid. Likewise, being called a koolaid drinker because you are optimistic is equally as stupid.

Some posters here (not you necessarily) were crowning the Brownies.
They wanted to crown them.

Turns out they are who we thought they were.

The Browns were missing 3 WRs........Jurevicius was the injury that really hurt them as he knows the offense and just seems to catch everything. Stallworth has shown to be a quality journeyman in Philly and NE. Cribbs isnt all that great on offense, but he is one of the top KRs in the game. The losses of these 3 did have an impact on their offense.

However, we were missing Newman, our best cover CB. We were also missing Hurd, Austin, and Kosier. So we were banged up as well.

Cleveland is a quality team and I expected better from them at the Dog Pound, but they didn't deliver. I do like that they did display some physical play though. It will be beneficial to us going into the Philly game.

We have some areas to work on, so does every team. It is much better to be 1-0 with things to work on, than 0-1. Proctor is definitely the weak link to our OL. Jim Johnson's defense scares the heck out of me. I wonder if Holland will be ready by Monday. I sure do hope that our OL can give Romo the time against the Eagles that he had today.

We need to cut down on the penalties. Some of them were just stupid.

When Newman comes back, I would like to see us play defense similar to how we played with Deion. Man to man on Newman's side and then Double on Henry's side.

I would like us to blitz more against the Eagles and knock the snot out of McNugget. I definitely hope we don't allow McNugget the time in the pocket that the Rams let him have today.....

Romo...please no more stupid passes in the red zone. I honestly don't think he saw the defender. I wish he would have thrown it away and given us a 3rd and goal.

I thought we played a heck of a game, was it perfect no but its hard not to be impressed with the effort they gave today.

Since it is a chicken little thread, I will say they need to cut back on the penalties still but Im not too worried about it, the season is still young.

i am looking forward to the return of Hurd and Austin.

I would love to see Barber and Felix in the game together. I bet we could do some really neat things creatively.

I am so glad that we have 3 RBs. Last year we have 1 and 3/4. Barber 1, Jones 1/2, Tyson 1/4......I am so stoked about Jones and Choice backing up Barber.

These "I'm a better/blinder fan than you are!" threads are really embarrasing. Most fans predicted a win and we won. Why would there be chicken littles?

The offense was overwhelming...the defense was average at best and needs to improve in some areas, though getting Newman and Spencer back healthy should definitely help.

So now Cleveland is mediocre? Some posters here (not you necessarily) were crowning the Brownies. You would think they had the greatest offense ever assembled. Anything to put a negative spin on the Cowboys chances.

It isnt a negative spin...1-0 is great and the offense deserves a ton of credit, but I came away somewhat disappointed in the defense, especially since they were missing 2 or 3 WR's and a starting OL..we rarely "stopped" them, alot of times they got off the field because of their own errors, not because of what we did to them.

12 months ago most fans figured we would get a top 5 pick from cleveland. Anderson and lewis had career years that may not ever be repeated. Outside of the Commanders like offseason they really have nothing more than they did when everyone was on the mcfadden to jerryland bandwagon. Nice tune up

The doomsayers love to put it in the face of the rest of us when we don't play well, so there's not a damn thing wrong with a thread like this.

In fact, let me add a few:

Oh noes, our players are soft and gutless!
Oh noes, our players feel too entitled!
Oh noes, we don't tackle enough in practice! This soft camp will doom us!
Oh noes, how can we not trade the farm for a 3rd WR!
Oh noes, our clueless dufus coach is just holding the seat for RJ!

Fact is, we STOMPED a good playoff team at their place even though we were banged up. I can't see why anyone would be anything but happy.

amen thank you, and even more funny when they base the gloom and doom off of preseason games. :bang2:

How dare you point out areas where we can improve! Why must you hate this team?!

they arent a playoff team, they were 10-6, but missed the playoffs last year.

lame post. anyone worried about any of that is pretty clueless.

most of what observant non-homers are concerned about, however, was the undiscipled play and absurd penalty count that was like clockwork. throw in more of Romo's forced INT in the endzone and these are things that need improvement.

against mediocre teams you overcome those mistakes...

oh noes, our 3rd stringers are looking horrible in the Preseason
oh noes, how could we cut ogelsby over ball
oh noes, proctor is gonna get killed by rogers
oh noes, no experience 3rd wideout we arent gonna score
oh noes, pacman is gonna get toasted all day against cleveland
oh noes, cleveland is so hard to play at the dog pound is gonna throw romo off
oh noes, the sky is falling the sky is falling.

I think I was labeled a "Chicken little" in the preseason. I'm delighted w/ a win, but I still think there is a lot to improve on w/ this team. Try and remember that several of Cleveland's key players were out for this game, and w/ all the first rnd picks on this D, we should never give up a 1st down, let alone a TD. I want to see us handle Philly before I anoint us SB shoe-ins..

Terrence Newman didn't play-does this count? Anthony Spencer didn't play either-does this count? Kyle Kozier didn't play-does this count? Sam Hurd's/Miles Austin's injuries have weakened our WR corps-does this count too??

I find myself wondering if cowboyrock has posted, and if he is, if he's addressed his "prediction" that the Browns would beat the Boys... I also find myself suspecting that he's gonna predict a Cowboys loss at least 12-16 times this year...

And of course, I'd just LOVE to hear from all the "experts" who proclaimed that "Camp Cupcake" was a colossal blunder... yeah, I could tell the Boys weren't ready for the regular season to start...

To be fair, one good game against a mediocre team doesn't mean that we don't have problems that need to be worked out.

Absolutely right (as usual), Adam, but you were here, you saw the knee-jerk, semi-hysterical overreactions to EVERYTHING in preseason... those first two losses, the Chicken Little crowd was just BRUTAL in here... and even toward the end of preseason, all we heard was criticism of "Camp Marshmallow", or whatever flavor confection this year's camp was supposed to be... Wade was an idiot for not giving Felix Jones more work, that sort of thing...

Indeed, at least one of the gloom and doomers started a thread flatly predicting we were gonna get waxed by the Browns, mostly for the reasons listed above...

Well, I'd say if nothing else, this game is TOTAL vindication of the Cowboys' approach to the preseason... that team was ready to play right from the opening gun...

And that's ALL that preseason is supposed to be about... but of course, the same crew will be in here demonstrating their ignorance next year in preseason...
