Solid game by Roy.... only one gripe

Did he really have to run out of bound on one of those catches?

I forget when it happened, but he was running down the sideline, saw some defenders and just stepped out of bounds.

It was a safe decision, but I hate when I see that kinda stuff.

No need to risk injury or fumble on a big gain - he's a WR, not Marion Barber :)

Those type of plays put a player in a no win situation. If the runner steps out of bounds he's considered a pansy. On the other hand if he takes on the defenders and gets hurt he's chastised for not avoiding contact. To me the smart move is to avoid contact in that situation for another few yards, especially if the player in question is not quite 100% in the health department.

Craig

The play looks similar to the run Felix made on the sidelines that put him out a couple weeks... I would rather Roy be 100% healthy then land awkwardly getting pushed out of bounds or get blindsided, smart move on his part- Roy is 1 skinny guy now, if it was someone like Barber out on the edge then sure take the dude out and try and stiff arm or run over the guy... lol k this thread is kinda silly so I think most of the posts have summed it up

Same gripe. Watching it I was thinking (actually saying out loud with my wife not happy about it) ***??

Work for a few extra yards son, you get paid well.

I think with WRs, coaches prefer them to get the first and get out of bounds in a situation like that. May he get another 2-3 yards, sure, but he could also fumble or get hurt, niether of which is worth the reward. That's not a real tough football mentality, but its the way it is in the NFL.

My gripe on Roy is when he tips the ball up when he cant get the catch. He did that twice. For instance the one in the end zone, there was no way he was going to pull that ball in and he decided to try to get a hand on it. Samuels could have easily INT'd it if he was looking for the ball.

4 eagles were coming full speed at him

I agree. I think people are being a bit caviler with RW body, you don't last long in this league by not using your head RW did not do anything different than what most WR would have done.

I know. :)

However, Roy's act of self preservation wasn't the most cowardly act in last night's game. Samuels was playing like a garden tool after Felix "Killa Cat" Jones iced another one.

lol! Felix "Killa Cat" Jones seems to be breakin necks and cashin checks.

Also, Williams running out was the correct call. The risk wasn't worth the benefit of an additional 2 or 3 yards.

You pick your fights, a broken tackle there would not have lead to anything worth the risk especially with sore ribs.

lol your gripe with him is that... you should be happy the guy is trying to make a play like that and come down with a circus catch to prove to everyone why he is #1 receiver material and gain Romo's trust that he can get to any ball thrown to him.. lol wow this guy has a solid game and can't catch a break!

when you have severely bruised (if not cracked) ribs why take extra hits in game 8?

He made a business decision. :laugh2:

Dang, you beat me too it...ha He may have gotten another yard or two, but is that worth having a LB fall on top of him? I had no problem with it and had no idea what Collinsworth was talking about as far as "outrunning" the LB...he had the angle.

If Roy doesn't tip the football people will criticize him for that too. Roy can't win. I think we call can agree on that. There's nothing he can do lol.

If he was protecting his ribs, I don't have any issue with him ducking out of bounds just before a linebacker was going to do it for him anyway one or two yards later. We need him for as many games this season as possible.

Yes. If he wants to play in the NFL for 10-12 years, he needs to run out of bounds.

That's one of the biggest criticism of the Barbarian. He runs so hard and so tough that his career could be shorten from taking unnecessary hits.
