Some insight on 1tech

Yea. Solid player. Not everyone has to be a star. T. Crawford has always been a good player. People have always hated on him because he never became an All Pro 3-tech. I think it's the same with Collins. He impressed and people thought he would become a star. He'll more likely be like a Hitchens. A solid, reliable, versatile player. No one ever appreciated Hitchens and now no one wants to see him leave.

Hitchens was pretty average his first two years, then he took a step forward in 2016 and a big step forward last year.

Hopefully Collins follows a similar trajectory.

If a recall correctly, Collins became our starting 3T when we had injuries at DE and had to move Crawford there. He played well enough that Crawford could stay at DE. But Irving is a potential All Pro. You don't sit Irving for someone like Collins.

All I am saying is that when you read the stories after the 2016 and in preseason camp, the Cowboys were sure talking like he was their 3 Tech of the future. Collins started the season at the 3 Tech until Paea got hurt and they had to reshuffle the line.

You're right they did. But they quickly learned the first 4 games that Irving was out he wasn't. Remember Irvings first game back? Like 2 sacks, fumble, etc.

I'm just happy we don't have to discuss this offseason where are all wondering how to we get a pass rush! That's a welcome change. Although that's been replaced with WR's now!

Hitchens played every LB as a 4th round rookie and didn't embarrass himself. People had high hopes for him and were disappointed when he didn't become a star.

I think thats why we're starting to hear this Dallas rumblings. The guy is fierce, but he plays out of control and with little to no technique. Its great when he makes the play but like in the atlanta game they showed the outcome when he doesnt.

Just read that Collins had foot surgery for an injury that bothered him since Week 6......bout the time his play fell off

No matter what they say he was much better at the 3T than the 1T

That seems to be up for debate now. I tend to agree with you but others are saying he was better at the 1 Tech.

And it seems like their solution to the 1 Tech will be Collins and I assume Price if he comes back. So again, it appears they won't invest much in the 1 Tech again this offseason.

Let's hope that is a ruse..... I think anyone that watched the games knows that Collins is better at 3T and he was better last year....... we need a 1T like Poe or Logan or a draft pick like Payne or Vea

I’m cornfused. Collins played 3-Tech last year and got 5 sacks. This year they moved him to 1-Tech and his production dropped plus he played injured..

What’s he talking about?

Bryan likes him better as a 1 tech. He also Hated the Fredrick pic so take that for what its worth

If Collins and Price can play 1T, I’d much rather upgrade the 3-T with a draft pick if possible. Then play Irving all over. Collins can play both, but he’s not the answer at 3-T...no consistent penetration.

honestly, I say Vita Vea for 1 tech and Collins for backup on absolute passing downs. He's got more ability to penetrave than Vea. Vea is a giant plug in th emiddle of the line mainly to stop the run

I think there's easily enough snaps in a Marinelli defense (embraces rotation) for 3+ DTs.

Remember, the year began with Irving suspended, Paea playing 1 and Collins at 3.

Vea would be a dominating force at 1 like we've arguably never had. That kid carries 340 lbs like Zeke carries 220.

like I said on that other now defunct board, Vea is built like (and is as strong as) a semi with the wingspan of an F-14. He would be such a disruptive force in the middle of the line that we would be almost unstoppable on D. Between Irving, Vea, Lawrence, and Taco... who needs linebackers?

Collins actually played both spots in both yrs. And got sacks at both spots.And in actuality McClain was playing alot 3tech in 2016 too

Collins does not have the sand in his pants to be a consistently successful 1 tech. It's not about size so much as the ability to get low and anchor. And the good 1 techs also push/collapse the pocket, causing the other DLiners to get the sacks. Prolly the most underrated and at the same time most important position on a good D.

He's not a 3T in this defense IMO. That dude is generally the best player on Marinelli's defense. Of course someone like Sapp can screw that comparison up real quick!

I just want more interior pressure, although Atlanta counter balanced that when they allowed us to rush up field and then burned us. It was genius allowing Irving to rush himself upfield out of the play!

Don't blame it all on Atlanta, Philly did it plenty the the following week too!
