every coach has his blind spot and that is his. He is so focused on his 'quick twitch' mania that an obvious fact like that just does not register.

a big ol trashcan full of dirt in the middle does a lot of things for a D but he just cannot or will not see it.

He played the 3-tech, but now you're getting revisionist history about 1-tech because apparently, that's the drum Broaddus is now banging.

Collins was a big disappointment this season after a stellar rookie campaign. And he's was getting routinely run over at the 3-technique. How anyone could now want to play him at an even more demanding run stopping position is beyond me.

But Marinelli, and by extension the Cowboys, have devalued and screwed up that position for years. So it's disappointing but not surprising.

Thankfully, this is just media guys answering a mailbag question and not indicative of actual decision making.

like I said on that other now defunct board, Vea is built like (and is as strong as) a semi with the wingspan of an F-14. He would be such a disruptive force in the middle of the line that we would be almost unstoppable on D. Between Irving, Vea, Lawrence, and Taco... who needs linebackers?

The sad part is that Marinate seems to have a nice talent of getting players to play hard. His schemes aren't that bad, if he'd just start to understand the value of the 1 tech. All good D's have them, no exceptions.

Yes, it was nice when Ratliff sliced through to tackle for a loss. But it was not nice when BALT ran two running plays up the middle for over 70yds w/ the game on the line. Marinate is trading off an occasional negative play for a major weakness.

I really like the idea of spending more premium picks on the defensive line, specifically the interior. I know that isn't Marinelli’s style, but how would you feel about a guy like Vita Vea?

Bryan: I think he would be outstanding but you also have to consider where is the best position for Maliek Collins? They tried him at the three-technique and it just wasn’t as good. When they moved him back to the one-technique, he was a better player. Where Vea could come into play is if they get to their pick and they’re wiped out. This is where that decision might be made.

David: It’s hard to argue that defensive tackle isn’t a need for this team – especially since we don’t yet know what’s going to happen with David Irving. Vea is one of the most intriguing talents that I’ve watched so far in this draft process, but I think this coaching staff would be far more likely to draft a three-technique than a nose tackle in the first round.



I agree with BB here. Collins just didnt seem like a natural fit at the 3tech. Early in the yr he had some trouble but as the yr went on he looked really good playing the 1tech. Then Irving got hurt. I think Collins needs to stay at the 1. He has the size and strength to be a force there. There are alot better prospects for the 3 in this draft and Taven Bryan in this draft. And then there always a guy named David Irving.

I think Broaddus is smoking crack. I say that facetiously, but you know what I mean.

I’m cornfused. Collins played 3-Tech last year and got 5 sacks. This year they moved him to 1-Tech and his production dropped plus he played injured..

What’s he talking about?

They have it backwards. It is hard to believe that Broaddus was an actual scout for us. Probably part of the reason we were 5 and 11 several years.

if they'd get off there *** and find a decent one then they wouldn't have to play guys out of position. Some excuse that is. "We don't have anybody, because we don't have anybody". ******* typical

They value position flex so much that they don't get anyone who can do anything very well. They keep looking for a Sapp who is smaller but can do it all. There hasn't been another Sapp for 10 plus years, but if there was one they would expect to get him at 19. It's pretty bizarre to think that way but we are sticking to the plan.

so tired of this organization playing guys in the wrong position and then try to pass it off like it's a problem solved. Irving is the starting 3 tech and Collins should be his back up. Tired of all this talk of collins playing the 1 tech. If he was a 1 tech they would have played him there from the ******* start.

Leave him where he's best at and stop trying to bs people about how great he was at the 1 tech. Save it cause I ain't buying it.

I have wanted to see Dontari Poe on this team since we traded up for Claiborne . I think he would have fixed a lot of problems then and I think he is the missing piece now . We need to try and get him in FA . He is a one of a kind athlete that would make the whole defense better.
