But really, four out of eight from one of his two drafts. Please think just a LITTLE bit before y'all post.
Yeah that thinking thing would work well for you too. Every one of those guys was injured or recovering from injury/surgery going into the offseason between their 1st and 2nd year (the time frame where I'm talking about them improving). Naturally they are not going to make the leap that a healthy player who is able to workout all parts of his body is going to make. Might as well add Al Johnson to that list as well not that it matters since I was referring to healthy players not the injured ones.

Watch out- using facts is against the law for some here. I mean seriously- using the fact that virtually everyone of those players had a serious injury should be immaterial - as Bill Murray said in Meatballs 'IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER!!!

first, after flo was injured, both tackles were receiving help about equally. also, not positve, i think rob faced the better d-ends down the stretch.

Here's the DE's that Rob faced after Flozell went down:

Strahan (twice)
Kearse
Bryce Fisher
Chike Okeafor
Corey Redding
Courtney Brown
Eric Hicks
Renaldo Wynn
Julius Peppers
Leonard Little.

This group totaled 62 sacks for the season. According to NFL.com, they had 12 sacks when they played Dallas (whether they were Rob's fault, I don't know). So 19.35% of their sacks came against Dallas. From the looks of it, Rob just really struggled against the good ones. In fact, he didn't give up a sack Okeafor, Kearse, Brown, Redding and Hicks.

However, Strahan had 4 sacks, Fisher had 2 sacks, Peppers had 3 sacks, and Little had 2.5 sacks against Dallas.

Torrin Tucker faced these following DE's:

Umenyiora (1.5 games)
Grant Wistrom
Bert Berry
Trent Cole
James Hall
Kalimba Edwards
Trevor Pryce
Jarred Allen
Phillip Daniels
Mike Rucker
Anthony Hargrove

This group had 83.5 sacks for the year with 16 of them coming against Dallas. That's 19.16% of their sacks coming against Dallas (whether or not they were Tucker's fault, I don't know). Berry's sack rate was pro rated since he only played 8 games, however he did go on I-R in the Dallas game. Tucker only had one game where the opposing DE didn't have a sack (Rucker). He also gave up 4 sacks to Phillip Daniels, who had recorded all of 6.5 sacks in his 34 games prior to week 15.

thanks, those are interesting numbers. the last five games rob gave up at least 6 1/2 sacks:

strahan 2
K C - don't remember
wynn- 1
peppers- 2
little- 1 1/2

while that is alarming, it goes to what i said before. he probably should have sat at least a couple of games after he injured his ankle. well he didn't and the rest is history. i think he'll do remarkedly better this year if he retains his starting position. won't be long now.

Eric Hicks was the DE for KC across from Rob. He has 0 sacks and 0 tackles. Wynn was only credited with a 1/2 sack. And like I said, Peppers was credited with 3 and Little 2.5 according to NFL.com, but that doesn't mean Rob was responsible for all of those sacks.

It appears that Rob struggles a bit more with speed rushers last year than bull rushing guys, although Strahan had great success against him and he did shut down Kearse.

I am a big believer in Rob. He has the work ethic that causes you to get better regardless of the pain. When I saw him playing through injuries for the whole season, even though you knew he had to be dying out there for many reasons such as the length of the season. Much longer than his collegeate season. His drastic weight loss, leading to less muscle tone, etc.

I'm pulling big time for the kid.

I am a big fan of Petitti and so it is sometimes tough for me to stay objective in my views. Having said that, I do believe that Petitti kinda wore down towords the end of the season. Not just physically but mentally as well. The NFL season is a long one and most rookies hit the wall at about 10 games or so. Physically, they just don't re-coupe in time. I suspect this also happens with vets but they have the advantage of understanding how to save there bodies, the advantage of year round cycles and a whole off season professional training program under there belt. Mentally, you have seen many of these guys before. Your understanding of the strengths, weakness and tendancies is much better because you've had the benifit of doing it before. For a rookie, everything is kinda new all the time. Not excuse per say but there is validity to it I believe. I am not a fan of Petittie because of his performance last year. I am a fan of his because I believe it takes a mentally tough individual to hang in for a whole season, under those conditions. Phisically, Petitti was beat to Shyte about game 10 IMO. His body was breaking down and it showed. I think his mind was probably at the saturation point as well but I don't know for sure. It would have been very easy for him to quit at about 12 games or so but he didn't. He got beat a lot towords the end but he didn't throw the towel in. Mental toughness is about 80% of the pro game IMO. Physical and conditioning along with preperation are all things that can be worked on and improved upon. You don't know if you have the sand to hang in until your faced with that situation. To me, Petitti exibited some toughness of mind in those last 6 games. This is why I'm a fan.

this is why i'm pulling for him also. with all that was going on and him being a rookie, it's easy to get "phased" by the world around him. i do believe his focus will be better and in the end will be a better player because of it. it just must have sucked rotton dodo eggs for him to go through that and take the heat he took, all "his" or not. even so, i never heard him whine or complain, just play. for whatever reason he sticks out to me in a good way so i hope that translates to him stepping it up and having a better year and hopefully next year he won't be a ??? going into camp.

On the Tucker/Pettiti comparision: Pettiti was a rookie. Tucker had 3 years of professional experience. Rob has the potential to be good. Especially with his determination. Tucker, well, perhaps he would be a good guard. Perhaps he needs another system. Certainly Parcells did not think he was the better tackle.

LMAO! I am sure there are some haters that would say something like that! Good one!
