We will never truly know if Zimmerman attacked first and if Trayvon defended himself. If Zimmerman gets off than Trayvon's family will feel like their sons life didn't matter or that justice was not served.

Zimmerman will not be able to go back to the life that he had before either way even if he gets off he'll have to be in hiding for a while because of some of the death threats out there

I haven't read through the whole thread so I apolgize if this was already brought up. But on the STand Zimmerman said that he didn't know how old Trayvon was and thought that he was only a little younger than he was, but on the 911 tape Zimmerman states that Trayvon was in his late teens.

So either GZ forgot about what he said or he's just lying to cover himself because he knows that people are upset over a young person getting killed.

Can they use this in the trail?

Good point. But then again, GZ could of called 911 after he got a good look at Trayvon. The whole mess is out of control, too much media yet once again.
It's sad to hear the Martin family wasn't appreciative on GZ's apology.

Natalie Jackson, one of the family's attorneys, said the apology was "insulting to the family...This is the most unmeaningful apology we've ever seen in our entire lives."

Now, if GZ hadn't apologized, what would they of said then? Seems like a catch 22.

Don't forget that Trayvon died in FEB a couple of months ago so the family's wounds are still very fresh as is their anger and grief. Trayvon's family feels like many would angry at the person who killed their loved one.

So you can question others about how they feel about this case or jumping to conculsions, but Trayvon's family had the right to feel how they do. I don't think that they are entitled to forgive Zimmerman or accept his apology and just accept that it was Self Defense like they shouldn't be angry over Trayvon dying the way that he did.

Sorry but that is a lie ...Maybe you can say you don't and I will some what believe you. Truth is Lying, spinning, misdirection and the other names you want to put on it happens ALL the time ..Its afact of life and a major part of our system (and yours)

I repeat, lawyers do not lie, we might unknowingly repeat a lie our client has told us but if we suborn perjury by knowingly repeating untruths, we face discipline from our Law Society or state bars south of the border in the US.

Whiel I agree he can/will probably be convicted of manslaughter, I think it's a mischaracterization of the events to say that he chased Martin with a gun. Had he had his gun drawn the whole time there never would have been an altercation, Martin almost certainly didnt realize he had a gun until or immdiately prior to being shot.

I'm just curious why he would have chased him. I never said he drew his gun, but the fact he has a gun on hood watch is a bit sketchy. Then he goes and chases him when they tell him "we don't need you to do that".

I understand some don't want to convict Zimmerman of murder. I sort of don't think he had intent, and I don't think he premeditated it or anything. What I do think happened is that he got in over his head by thinking he was an officer of the law when he was not.

Personally, I'm glad the public is making an example of the Zimmerman case. Yes, it's sensational. But at least we're not as apathetic a lot as I once thought.

City rejects resignation of police chief in Trayvon Martin controversy

The Sanford city commission rejected the resignation of the police chief criticized for the way he handled the Trayvon Martin case.

The resignation was rejected Monday by a 3-2 vote, with the majority blaming outsiders for the recent uproar. City commissioners said they want to wait for the results of a federal investigation to decide if they will accept Chief Bill Lee's resignation, which could take months.

"The city commission spoke," city manager Norton Bonaparte said. "They were not ready to have the resignation. So we'll move forward."

i was glad to see this. many people have made assumptions that the police department screwed up but i've yet to really see how. anything that has come up i've flown by my brother and he doesn't feel they did anything wrong. if they did, he would know and say something.

this is still very emotional and a decision like this shouldn't be made in a time like this, imho anyway.

It's not really a "feeling" here. It's a thought.

And you're not biased towards this source, are you?

and you're not biased by saying zimmerman chased martin swinging his gun around either, are you?

maybe i am biased to this source because he has 30+ years of experience in dealing with the police on matters such as this.

so yea, i'll take his word over yours unless you can show more credibility.

so far i've not taken EITHER side, i'm just waiting for the full story to get out and not shoving a 1/2 baked opinion around like it's gospel. i did that early on and was wrong in doing so.

The bondsman guy?

And where did I say he chased him, swinging his gun around?

Please point that out.

I am glad some people in that town are not rushing to judgement.

it was all so very emotional early on, and it really still is. the vote of no confidence to me was a pure PR move. it got hot, someone has to get thrown into the fire.

it's why i hate mob mentality that is quick to be judge, jury and executioner so quickly. i think the sanford police department did a great job of not letting the media take this to trial.

unfortunately when they do that, "the mob" will just get angry cause they're not being listened to when in fact, they're the ones not listening, just reacting.

How do you reject someone quitting?

Reminds me of the ol' opposite, "you can't quit, you're fired!".

as i understand it, he was asked to resign and that had to go before the council who rejected it.
