Do those guys work out? Sure - there is evidence all over the league for that. But for more context, here are our other 3rd round O-line picks since Williams

Stephen Peterman G 2004
Steve Scifres G 1997
Clay Shiver C 1996
George Hegamin T 1994
James Brown T 1992
James Richards G 1991 (6 spots before Williams)

Remember what BP said. Churning the roster. On average, about 30% max of your roster turns over every year. So you can't to hit on every OL picked. But why wate a draft pick we we have 2 new ones, plus we haven't seen what Corey Proctor can do yet.

GAITHER GOING IN ROUND FIVE?
A league source with knowledge of the evaluation of Maryland tackle Jared Gaither believes that Gaither will be selected in the fifth round.
The source says that, if Gaither were in the April draft pool, he possibly would be a first-day (i.e., round one, two, or three) selection.
The word on Gaither is that he's immature, and that he doesn't fully appreciate his physical gifts. He lost his academic eligibility because he hated school. And given that teams didn't have time to do their due diligence, teams will be less willing to take a chance on him.

That report would likely be accurate for any talented player who flunks out of school.

We saw he couldn't take Rivera's job last year. We saw he didn't dress for a single game last year. What exactly is Procter going to "do"

I'm not all over the board -- it is two different discussions. One was of whether Ireland is a super genius and the other is of whether we should drop a low pick on Gaither. How exactly am I all over the board?
How about the comment above?

The same was said of Free and Marten, yet by reading what you say this morning that is all hype and Gaither isn't.

The Cowboys are going to give Free and Marten a chance to sink or swim. It has nothing to do with Ireland being better than Lacewell or anything of the sort, and I never maintained it did.

I never said Free and Marten sucked -- I was pointing to the failure rate for OL players taken in the 3rd round -- why does getting more depth have to reflect poorly on the drafted players. It isn't like we are so deep on the line that we can turn our nose up at help.

You never maintained it did -- of course, you are responding to posts i made regarding a different discussion with a different poster - so that is likely the source of your confusion.

I'm not saying it reflects poorly on them. I'm saying we're not interested in Gaither based on what I was told that I shared for this thread.

Those must be some boring phone calls when there may not be any action the first three rounds or so.

It'd be like the Verizon commericials except by saying 'Pass' every minute or so instead.

You know what though? If they put on the Net as a streaming link or on TV, I would watch it in rapt attention.

I need help.

3 rounds of the Sup. Draft are complete (IN 34 MINUTES) and no one has been selected.

Interesting. I presumed they were very much interested in him, but I didn't think it'd be with a 4th. Must have got scared.

Considering where that 4th will probably be, that sounds like a nice move to me.

Very smart on their part. He was a very good cover CB and has a chance to be a #2 or nickel guy IMO.

bit high there -- likely could have had him a little later. but they figure it will be a very late 4th rounder anyway
