Just a brilliant freaking post.

I'm glad that fans are cooled down a bit now, and can look at this objectively.

That's still asking a lot. There are tons of fans that will never be convinced even after Romo wins a title. They will put it on the defense or the running game or just call it dumb luck. That's not fair but it's life. There are some Laker fans that are still convinced that Kobe can't win a championship without Shaq.

It's a waste of time trying to convince a person like that. When I see extraordinary posts like these it just confirms what I've already seen to be true. Romo is a franchise QB. If he stays healthy he will have a ton of success in this league. He will win a championship and there will be haters kicking and screaming the whole way there.

Ben Roethlisberger
1 Game with 4 INTs
1 Game with 3 INTs
1 Game with 2 INTs
Negative Impact: Lost all three games. Eventual Super Bowl winner.
3.6% INT Career
5.2% TD Career
7.8 YPP Career
+ 1.6 TD to INT%

Do you mean to tell me that Roethlisberger had a game last year where he threw 3 interceptions and a game where he threw 4 interceptions and the Steelers still won the SuperBowl. I thought it couldn't be done. Wow. So your saying that Romo could still win a SuperBowl even after that worst performance in NFL history on Sunday night?

I imagine after those two games the Steelers fans were calling for the team to trade for Kitna so they could start him.

The Romo critics will just ignore this thread because it doesn't fit their irrational notions.

And geesh the guy who said he expects more because he's been a Cowboy fan for 25 years...needs to come out of his entitlement cave and buy a clue.

Great info in this thread. Thanks to original poster and Adam for the fumble info.

Fumbles are a factor, and something we HAVE, at least to this point, seen an improvement from Romo on in terms of ball security. He is also "saying" the right things about the picks being MISTAKES and recognizing they are costly. Now for the reduction in the impulse type "silly" interceptions, and Romo will have grown in the 3 ways that most posters on the board wanted to see.

I do see progress on the 1st two areas that needed improvement, now it is just the untimely and seemingly unnneccesary "hail mary" type picks. Romo is a very good QB. I think he will be "great" once he reduces the picks and wins us some playoff games. He is still growing. The last game bugged me as much as the last, and I really think public perception crossed the boundary of general "talk" about Romo to downright negativity and skepticism. That pick on 1st and 10 at 24-20 was such a perfect example of what CAN NOT happen regularly if Romo and team are to make the next step. I felt it in my gut when it happened that that would be a public perception fork in the road. We will see where Romo goes from here. I think he will accept and rise to the challenge in getting better here.

I get that, but what do you do? Should we just change QBs every 2 or three years until we win a Super Bowl? Since we are all Cowboy fans do get a 100% back money guarantee on a Championship producing QB? What are the odds that we get rid of Romo and the guy that replaces him is the next Manning, Brady or Aikman?

Frustrated...sure, but what is the answer?

The answer is simple, Romo should not be the starter next season if one of the two things happens this season

1. One and done in the playoffs

2. Don't make the playoffs

So how do these numbers compare to Romo as far as turnovers go?

1989 6 18 int's
1990 5 18 int's
1991 4
1992 4
1993 7
1994 2
1995 5
1996 6
1998 3
1999 8
2000 2
One 20 + TD season
According to some of you we shoulda dumped this guy his rookie year...

And this guy should have been cut serveral times as well:

1969 2
1970 4
1971 6
1972 1
1973 5 15 int's
1974 7 15 int's
1975 5 16
1976 4
1977 8
1978 5 16 int's
1979 8
3 20 + TD Season

Are all statisticians liars, or all liars statisticians... you can't have it both ways. A QB doesn't win or lose a game by himself all the time...

Great post!!! Now, can you please get this to every major sports network so they can get off Romo's *ss.

Basically, what that stats tell us, is that Romo is like any other young QB and has struggles. The difference is that Romo had amazing success early on and he is the QB of the Dallas Cowboys.

I'm sick of the national sports media railing my QB!! In Romo I Trust.

So if Romo consistently has 300+ yards/4 TD/no turn over games but our defense/ST consistently gives up 5 TDs, we should sit him next year?

I'm glad you are not our GM.

Now you know what I mean. If he continues to GIVE GAMES AWAY like last week then he should be gone

Definitely an interesting post. It got me thinking about some of my own frustrations with him. What is hard for me to get over though is when your offense runs for 253 demoralizing yards against a helluva defense, how can you throw the ballgame to the other team?
2 games that are playoff caliber in my mind were the last game in Texas stadium and the Sunday night game last week. These were huge games to me and I'm sure every old school cowboys fan.
Stats don't lie, but I don't think they tell the complete story either.

he has a two game sample size in the playoffs. would you rather have romo or the other 17 guys we have had at QB since troy?

seriously your the GM and you dont want romo at the end of this year who are you bringing in to get us a playoff win?

If Romo fumbles or throws the game away why do I want a QB who is unreliable?
