Ignorance is bliss.

Yeah, it's so much easier to believe Parcells "has no huevos" then to believe he got tired of the owner's "meddling". From an owner who has a history of "meddling".

To each his own.

Sure it is but whats even better is making stuff up with nothing to back it up so that it all fits in your world vision.

Parcells was in his later 60s when he walked away. Could it be possible that he meant what he said in that he didn't have the drive or energy to work 14 hours a day, 6 days a week, 11 months out of the year?

If people want to say that measn he lacks huevos then fine. Personally i intend on retiring about a decade before that. Oh and I love what i do.

Exactly.

Like I said earlier, he got burned out. And he had a history of getting burned out with coaching after 3-4 years.

Anyone expecting him to stick around longer then that was being foolish.

:hammer:

Bill Parcells is a troubleshooting and typically those type of guys don't stick around long.

I believe his age, his brother dying and his belief that the Cowboys were talented enough to go on without him played major roles in him leaving.

But it was obvious he had lost alot of his energy and zeal for the game. Several former players said it was painful watching him on the sidelines during games and Jim Burt had to join Bill Parcells on the sidelines to try to keep him motivated.

But of course, these facts won't stop guys like Collin Cowherd from saying Jerry Jones chased him away.

At the risk of sounding wishy-washy, I think everyone is right.

He was burned out. With some exceptions, he wasn't connecting well with the players on this roster. I don't think he was or ever will be a TO fan, and the thought of another season of playing media "chicken" with him was probably exasperating. I do think Bill didn't like that he had TO foisted on him to a point by Jerry (and I do believe he was), and saw more of that coming. And in the end he just didn't have the energy to try to figure out how to get this bunch on the same page and make it work, all with a Jerry becoming more and more involved.

Despite all this I'm sure it took him a long time to make the decision for the reason's Hos mentioned - money, a young, talented roster, finishing what he started, etc. But the cumulative negatives just outweighed the positives for a 60 something year old coach who had been fighting it for 4 years.

No surprise at all his next move was not to another sideline, but upstairs and with a team that gave him complete and unhindered autonomy.

That he left because of Jerry. I think he just was tired and wanted to leave. I don't think any player or person forced him out. I think his ego is such that he could have over powered anyone in his way. I may not like Parcells much, but I don't see him as a spineless jellyfish and I don't understand why so many people want to emasculate the guy.

Like I said, for us it's just speculation, colored by our own biases.
Sure, the fact I can't stand Jerry pretty much makes that assumption much more plausible for me, but considering he left NE for a similar reason, I don't find it to be a stretch to believe that.

Him leaving under those conditions wouldn't characterize him as spineless, just pragmatic/wise enough to understand he isn't going to change the poor habits of another old man and knowing they're not at all worth dealing with.
