A perfectly good thread gone bad, thanks.

Truth hurts. This team lost its only fiery component. Defenses gonna be punching us in the mouth all year running their mouths on the field and dallas is gonna walk back to the huddle with nothing to say back. *****ES!

Colombo always seems to have a nasty streak in him. We all know about the barbarian.

On defense, i always thought Ratliff will become that player. I also think Scandrick plays with intensity and brings the wood. He seems to have a lot of pride and looks like a no nonsense kind of player.

I'd like to see a player who looks at that magnificent new stadium and sends the message to the other teams that you will not come in our house and disrespect us.

I hear ya and feel your pain. But this team is primed for getting embarrassed. We are soft, we play soft. We talk the talk and dont wak the walk.

Its going to take a major alignment of all the stars(pun intended) lining up at the right time to be successful this upcoming year. Because it wont be because of Jerry, Wade and company.

As "fiery" as TO was Marion Barber is this offenses fist and can set a tempo for us that makes us almost unstopable.

We used to have a guy on offense who wouldnt let us get pushed around or let other players jaw and nobody say anything back. Ahh well hes gone now back to the softness right #11? Nobody on this team has a persona of a Ray Lewis or TO. They let Jacobs talk and do all that because of fear.
Thank goodness we got rid of TO. I'll say it again, thank goodness. He is NOT what I am talking about, NOT what this teams needs in any way, shape, or form. I would take a non superstar, team first Bill Bates, over an attention ***** Terrell Owens any day of the week and twice on game days.

I never wanted Geriatric Ray Lewis either. He plays the same position as Bradie James and Bradie is younger and has more upside at this point given their ages and production. Simply put, Bradie James was a strength on this Defense in 2008 and I look for that to continue.

Truth be told this Defense has not had an identity since the retirement of Darren Woodson. He was in no way a dirty player. He was not a locker room cancer. He was not a camera magnet. He was not a quote machine. He was not someone who stirred up controversy. All he did was bring his lunch pail and go to work and demand that the rest of the team did too.

I'm not looking for guys whose best days are behind them that the media loves. I'm not looking for dirty players. Just someone to demand more of this team and get it. An enforcer.

Most of our olinemen are like that. That is expected. Barber just does it with his play, he never talks or does anything that shows that he wont be pushed around after the play. Its like the NBA playoffs when Kobe elbowed Ron Artest. "When somebody trys to push you around you have to let them know that you wont stand for it"-charles barkley

if somebody hits barber late im sure hes gonna get up and just run back to the huddle. Emmitt wouldnt do that but everybody keep thinkin 09 is gonna be roses.

You could say that Greg Ellis has been doing this very thing for the last decade.

I'm not looking for dirty players.

Speak for yourself. I would take a couple of Conrad Doblers or Erik Williamses. Half of our players will help up people they knock down and pat them on the rear afterwards.

Does TO play defense? I remember him being the only one to talk crap to Dawkins after all his cheap shots. I remember him being the only demonstrative person on the field after he destroyed the Bears on National tv. I remember him talking trash to big bad Michael Strahan during the playoffs while nobody else was doing anything. I love how TO would talk trash and act like he was unstoppable to opposing defenses. That swagger will be lost and it will show when people make Roy Williams a non factor. Deanglo Hall found out what happens when u talk trash to TO. What happens when you talk trash to Romo like alot of defenders do? ummm nothing.
They say it isn't trash talk if you can back it up.

4 receptions, 49 yards. Yep, you're right, that's trash talk.

And then kill them on the next play.

You're out of your mind if you think Marion Barber doesn't add a significant toughness to our offense.

Colombo goes a little further than that. We've seen it at least a couple of times in the last three years.

Barber won't get stupid penalties but i doubt he just goes to the huddle without any incident. Even if he does, i guarantee you that he will punish that defender next time he gets a chance.

Agreed. His is our attitude. Everyone else is either reserved or cocky.

Talking trash isn't what Hos is refering to but I'm not surprised that you didn't catch that fact.

Right here explains exactly why Owens is not what he was refering to. No one cares about a guy who talks smack back. Talk is cheap.

After coming back from an injury and getting himself ready to play for his team.

Its hard for me to bad mouth TO considering he fought as hard as he could for this team.

Id rather him get in their face and let them know he wont be pushed around with cheap shots. I remember watching the niners americas game and Steve Young saying how the team was possessed after the Bears hit him with that cheap shot sayin they were looking for a fight. Cowboys are like the Mavericks and the Lakers. Soft as cotton. Steelers are like the Rockets. Ready for whatever and not thet ones to get pushed around by anybody and will let you know it wont happen. Thats my type of football.

Why do you still fight it? lol

Some are happy he is gone, some are mad. For me, its over done and we are past that.

NOW... lets see us win games 10-6 as the norm.

I don't have any issues with TO. I liked what he brought to this team over the last 3 years but his trash talking wasn't what Hos was refering to so, no, not having him here isn't keeping us from having what he's talking about.

I remember fondly all the people whose face T.O. got into when the going got tough. He went toe to toe with tough guys like Ray Sherman, Todd Haley and Jason Garrett.

Usually this kind of talk suggests to me that a team is doing poorly.

Can't get respect through your play, then get it through brute intimidation.

When the Patriots were 18-0, I don't think they were terribly concerned that no one was "smashing the other side in the mouth" or the like. They earned their respect through winning.

Similarly, there wasn't really that attitude on our dynasty team in the 90's (which is why the reference point is the post-dynasty era George Teague.). Teague was fighting to retain the last bit of respect for the dynasty through brute force.

I like guys who work hard to win. But I could care less about intimidating other teams or showing what badass thugs we have on our team. I'd rather earn the respect by winning.

I just never get the whole "If I can't beat you, I'll just beat your ***" mentality.

As a side note, the ****ty Commanders franchise and their idiot fans are HUGE into this mentality. Their franchise is a joke, so they try to take solace in some cheap shots by Landry or Taylor hitting a punter. Then they all puff up their chests about what beasts they have. It's loser talk. Can't earn respect by being good, try to claim respect by brute force. It doesn't work.

Last night the Mavericks tried hard and won game 4 after having game 3 stolen from them. I heard a lot of pre-game talk about the how Mavs should just come out last night and punch the Nuggets right in their face and be all dirty and such. But I have more respect for them coming out playing to win instead of trying to show what men they are by being violent.
