Scheme! Plain and simple. The offense is run through the TE and JG is unwilling to get his playmaker involved.
dont know how many times this needs to be said, Garrett doesnt tell Romo who to throw to, the plays have been there and he is getting open Romo just isnt looking his way

So are you saying Romo don't trust DEZ, Don't believe in DEZ or just scared to throw interceptions....Romo the game manager sucks.... No more excuse for ROMO....No more excuses for Garrett.... We all, have seen it and heard better, no one on the Zone is saying anything new, We all have seen this crap before and will see it again....

.Ol Danny Synder of the Commanders is feeling a lot better after watching the Jerry Jones Cowboys play on National Tv. ....

something *IS* wrong with our offense. The offense is incapable of scoring the 6, 7 or 8 touchdowns needed to win games.

jerry probably wont allow it, but just for the sake of finding out can we give Orton one start in this offense just to compare notes ?

Dez isn't getting massive yardage totals for the same reason the offense isn't getting massive yardage totals: Not enough opportunities. The opposing offense holds onto the ball too long.

I don't think Time of Possession is the answer. I'm willing to bet the Broncos aren't exactly all that high on the TOP ratings either.

The offense isn't great. It's mediocre. The defense is awful. That's why people haven't been paying much attention to the offense. The bears don't have a good defense but the offense could only score 14 points when the game was still competitive.

Blame the basic lack of creativity in finding ways to get Dez open regularly. Front running teams have that capability in their toolboxes. We don't.

Dez is on pace to barely break 1000 yards receiving.

He has dropped all the way to 19th in receiving in the NFL -- 11th in the NFC.

He is ranked 32nd in the NFL in big receptions (20+ yards).

Who do you blame? Play calling? Romo not throwing him the ball? Dez not getting open?

More than anything else on offense, this is the biggest indicator to me that things are broken.

Arg!

Part of the issue here is that we could run against the Bears at will. You also had cold conditions and wind which wasn't ideal for throwing the ball. The Bears can't stop the run, but their DB's are better than ours.

I can't see the offense as the problem last night. When the Bears punter basically gets paid to freeze his butt off on the sidelines, that's a problem.

The team has quit......

It's foul......they quit on wade too.....

Once that starts.......it gets ugly.....

this can't be stated enough. Once a team quiets (ie see Wade) its in their blood to do so again when things don't go well. You really have to cycle thru your team leaders to make any meaningful changes along with probably new hc.

the fact that every TD drive is like pulling teeth points the finger directly at JG. It's his system.

Just once i'd love to see this team go down the field with 4 passes and bam, TD.

But it doesn't happen.

Romo threw some passes over Dez's head. In a "normal" game that wouldn't matter. But when your defense gives up a score on EVERY possession, it magnifies every offensive mistake and it just snowballs. The only way to win tonight was to score 50 points (or 46). You just can't expect that from your offense. They should've kept running to keep the Bears off the field. Just a horrible showing tonight.

the game was over when Witten dropped the pass right before the end of the 1st half. Who knew at the time our margin for error would be that small. But when the other team does not punt. When the other team does not drop passes/interceptions. When the other teams QB is ACCURATE. We had to match that just to have a chance. We had to keep drives alive and keep up on the scoreboard. Could not afford sacks, dropped passes, missed blitz pick ups, failed 3rd down conversions etc...

We haven't highlighted ourplaymakers since TO. Garretts offense is slow and conservative, and his strategy is to win through all three phases. However, this conservative approach doesn't work when your personnel in two of these phases sucks, and instead just downplays your strengths

Garretts offense has been avg since Sparano left. We have plenty of time to come to that conclusion.

We need to play like the Bears played us. But we won't. Garrett is too conservative despite the considerable talent he has been given

I love how people say well, we have a historically bad defense but since we expect them to be bad it's okay; let's heap tons of blame on the offense. People literally brush off what is shaping up to be the worst defense in NFL history with a wave of the hand, and then write paragraphs about the offense. Hilarious. Because since we know they're bad, it's okay for the other team to never punt. Like that's something you can game plan around. The other team never punting. Right. Since we expect it, it's ok.

Becuase Garret and this offense have been in place for years and is HEALTHY. This is the first year in this defense. 3 of our top 5 DL have missed the entire season. The 2 that are playing are injured. This defense REQUIRES DL that can pressure the QB. Our #2CB is injured. Our best player (#50) is injured. So I agree this defense is bad...but that is somewhat understandable. But when your KR returns a kick to the Bears 46 yard line...and you go 3 and out.....you have major problems. We gained 6 yards on that drive! SIX!

He is to busy ducking down if a D-Linemen get's anywhere near him to see anything down field.

You miss the point entirely. It doesn't matter if there's an excuse or not, you can't wave this defense away with a wave of the hand because you expect them to be bad. There's nothing wrong with having one side of the ball stronger than the other and the Cowboys do need more from their offense to win games. But you cannot make up for a defense that NEVER stops the other team. People are sitting here nitpicking drops and incompletions and it's mind-boggling to me. The Bears could have named their score last night.

Stop saying "this defense sucks, BUT..." There is no but. Stop right there. You can't win with this defense.

So I think I now understand, it's understood that our defense sucks so now the offense has to be flawless or there's something wrong. I don't think you could expect any offense in the league to play flawlessly every single game, every play, every down because there will be a 3 and out that will happen eventually. So, when the offense has that 3 and out and the defense lets the other team score, then offense is playing from behind and it's game over. I'm not going to say that the offensive scheme doesn't have flaws but to expect perfection every time, it just won't happen.

He's a good QB in spurts. He isn't a QB that gets hot and can take over a game. It's not in his DNA. He's a nice guy says the right things but doesn't have that drive that cocky confidence that you see from the top guys in the league. He hangs his head and says we gotta play better it's a process as a football team. It's become a comical joke. I don't care if he holds every Cowboy passing record. He should with the way the rules are setup now for the QBs and WRs. But this guy couldn't hold Aikmans Jock or shine his shoes. He gets out played by no name QBs so often it's become a Joke. He takes the best WR this team has had since Irvin and makes him a nobody on the field. Time to move on 3 and out one of the worst offenses in the league on the money down. But hey he's having a good "statistical" year. Once again can't beat an opponent with a winning record. This team is not a playoff team at all

How much winning did Aikman do in the late 90's when Jerry grabbed control of all aspects of the team and the salary cap kicked in?

Some people view the past with distinctly rose coloured spectacles.

And I think getting outplayed by a no name QB is down to the defense is it not?

Dallas rushed for almost 200 yards, made 24 first downs and had zero turnovers. Romo tossed 3 touchdowns, with a rating of 109.

2013 highest average points per drive - Denver 3.07
2012 highest average points per drive - New England 2.99

On Monday Chicago averaged 5.6 points per drive.
Dallas averaged 3.5 (including the final 10 seconds before the first half as a drive) At this rate, Dallas would easily dominate the league offensively.

in 2013 Chicago averages 4.5 punts per game.
Against Dallas they never had to punt.

Time of possession
Chicago - 36:44
Dallas - 23:16

Realist game analysis: "Romo blows yet another one".

Tebow can throw for 2 of 8 with 69 yards and a TD and somehow get a 102 QB rating. wait, you can throw 25% and get above a 100 qb rating?

yeah, and apparently you can average 25 passing yards a quarter and get 109 qb rating!

Defense lost us the game...but there's something wrong with the offense, and something has been wrong for quite awhile. I'm looking at the QB and the HC, the only 2 constants on the offensive side....
