Something to consider

Teams weren’t worried about Beasley two years ago they were worried about Dez. Beasley came up big in 2016 leading the team in receiving. He converted some critical third downs for us and this caused opponents to play closer attention to him last season by rolling coverage towards him. He was helping us sustain drives.

Anytime a player has a big year you’re going to pay closer attention to them. You want to try and reduce their effectiveness which opponents did to Beasley last season. This was one of the reasons our offense wasn’t as effective.

Really? A guy is targeted 75 times in 2015 and 98 times in 2016 and it takes until 2017 to figure out he needs to be covered?

A truly fascinating analysis. Regrettably, you are just looking for more reasons to bash Dez

Reading some of the comments you would think the Cowboys are coming off a 3 to 4 win season and we need to tear the team apart and rebuild. With two or three solid additions we have a chance to be a very good team in 2018 but we need to be adding to the good players we have not creating more holes. After the 2014 season many thought we could just move on from Murray and multiple backs could do what he was doing and it contributed to a miserable 2015 season. A miss calculation here or there and there goes your season. We thought Brandon Weeden was the answer at backup but we were wrong. We didn’t move on from Romo until Dak proved he could play at a high level.

Despite last year’s down season Beasley is still a very good player. He may be gone after his contract is up but we need him for the 2018 season. With Dez’s future up in the air we can’t be moving on from Beasley, Witten and the rest of our receivers because we added Thompson and Hurns who aren’t exactly elite receivers. In 8 seasons Thompson only has 77 career receptions and 4 career TDs. Hurns had one good season 3 years ago and has missed 13 games the past 2 seasons so we can’t be moving on from receivers who’ve been better because everyone wants some new blood. One poster commented that now that we have Thompson and Hurns we don’t need Dez or Twill as if we just added two of the elite receivers in the game. Lol

Beasley has some trade value but you wouldn’t get more than a 4th or 5th round pick for him. Good luck coming up with a player in the draft that would be as good or better than him. He’s going to help us more in 2018 than any draft pick we’ll get for him. It doesn’t take much for fans to bail on a player after a down year. All our receivers had down years and everyone wants to move on from all of them. Our receiving corp is an issue but we can’t just move on from all of them. Adding a speed theat in the draft and making a few adjustments, especially with Dez could make our receiving corp much better.
I’m not talking about blowing up the roster
One player who is gone next year anyway
I agree Beasley would probably bring a 4th, that’s why I said pkg Beasley and a 4th maybe another lower pick
I know many want to trade everyone
I’m talking about trading one player we will lose next year, clearing 3 mil in space and getting back a good pick

You’re making a big issue out of this because you must be bored today. This has nothing to do with Dez. I don’t want to move on from Dez try reading my posts instead of looking for an argument. The Cowboys had a miserable season in 2015 going through 4 starting QBs. Beasley wasn’t nearly as effective in 2015. He was very effective in 2016 contributing to the great season we had and opponents put more emphasis on taking him away in 2017. If you want to keep going on this feel free.

You want to package Beasley and a 4th and maybe another lower pick for what? You’re looking to give Beasley and draft picks away and that’s going to make us better?

I said to add another second rnd pick
This draft has a very solid second rnd were you can get a DT or LB maybe a WR or guard who can help right away

You didn’t make yourself very clear, you made no mention of gaining a second round pick in that post.

Trading Beasley along with a fourth round pick and a lower pick to gain a second round pick wouldn’t be a very good move in my opinion. The second round hasn’t been very good to the Cowboys. They ended up with Gavin Escobar in the second round a few years ago. There’s probably several teams that would give up a second round pick for Beasley, a fourth round pick and a low round pick. That’s a pretty good deal for another team. They’re gaining a sure thing in Beasley and a couple of picks that could turn into good players.
