Sounds like Romo is pretty serious about trying to suit up this Sunday

If his mobility is limited even indirectly (because of the double flack jacket), then I wouldn't put him out there against the Cardinals. That's just asking for more hits which could aggravate his older injuries. At that point it becomes more than a matter of dealing with the pain.

This article is the first time I heard anyone say the initial reports were he would be out 4 weeks.

Guess I read that different. I didn't see it as Romo specific, more general about players and injuries.

Double flack-jacket?

Why not just suit up in a set of medieval armor.

I'm not a Romo hater, I'm more neutral than anything else ... but for the good of the team he'd be better off to playing this next 2 and be 100% healthy for the final 6 games. We should be able to win at least 1 of the next 2 ... I'm sure most Cowboy fans would be happy at 7-3 at the break. Not to mention Weedon looked Ok in his limited role.

Weeden obviously see's things on the field Romo does not...

Sorry, but I'd say this is not so very obvious. In fact, it's very much not the case. Brandon's still working on QB fundamentals for operating an offense under center, and Tony sees the field as well as anybody in the NFL.

If your starter can start, you start him. If he's ineffective because of the pain, you can always go to your backup later. You're not going to start Weeden and then have Tony on the bench ready to come in if he struggles, so that leaves you with Vaughan active this week. No thanks.

It's moot, anyway, because if he's medically cleared to play, you know that Tony's going to play. Personally, I love that. It's what makes him a great QB, and you have to take the good with the bad. He's not the type who's going to hurt his team if his play is compromised. He is the type who's going to go out there if he possibly can. He's a beast. And when your QB does that, it sends a message to the rest of the team how important the game is to him. Overall, that's a really good thing to have happen at some point during a season.

And I'll just say again that I'm really surprised how many people want to start Weeden over Romo--even for a week. I just don't see it.

We need a coach that will tell Romo... "You want to contribute on Sunday? Okay Tony, hold the damn clipboard. We don't need you screwing up another game because your ego tells you to. Sit there and heal and try not to hurt yourself."

Weeden obviously see's things on the field Romo does not. Like the witten TD, we haven't seen a play like that in a while. Sure Romo makes wayyyyyyyyy more amazing plays. It just seems weeden might see the field better/not scared to let it go.

There is zero possibility that Weeden sees the field better than Tony Romo.

I would not be happy with 7-3. Not after 6-1 and two home games followed by Jacksonville.

Our end of the season stretch is very tough. We need to rack up all the Ws we can right now or we could be looking at major disappointment in December again :(

He was pretty serious about going back in the game Monday night too. How did that work out?

I really think people are making a mistake thinking Haslett was not going to blitz the daylights out of Weeden on that goal line series, too. Or that Weeden was going to somehow be better at handling those protection breakdowns than Tony was.

Sunday was not one of Tony's better games. It was pretty much one of his stinkers. But all QBs have those a time or two each season. That's not how you decide who to play. You decide who to play based off of who's the better QB overall. If the clearly better player is hurt, then you have to factor in how much his game might be compromised, but I didn't think Tony's issues on Monday were mostly physical, anyway. He looked like he just wasn't reading the blitzes very well that night. 99 nights out of 100, that's not going to be the case.

This has nothing to do with ego, This is what football players do this is what guys like Don Meredith did and many others who have played this game. This is not pee wee football or some video game. If Tony can play he will but it has nothing to do with stroking his ego.

It's pretty clear that the guy is going to play.

And where's all this Weeden love coming from? He looked good in a game in the preseason, too, then came back to earth.

I would guess that it's coming from the thought of Romo injurying himself further. I don't really believe this is about Weeden. I think it's more about concerns over Romo for the rest of the season. Just a guess on my part.

Todd Bowles blitzes getting off the bus.

We've been pretty good beating the blitz this season.

And AZ is also down a couple of good DLs, right? That's going to slow down the effectiveness of that blitz somewhat, anyway. I'm not worried about Tony's ability to handle the blitz in general. He struggles with WAS's for whatever reason, though, for sure.

I like Weeden ok and will be 100 percent behind him if he plays Sunday (I think he will).

He can get it done IF the guys around him bring the A game. I think they will.

That all said big difference between stepping in mid-game and having been game planned for all week.

And I would agree that is why the nature of the injury is key. If this is a deep bruise then really not concern about further damage. People are making prognosis on what is wrong when they do not know, team has said it has nothing to do with the procedure he had on his back.
