Our dline is gonna be crud. 6-8 sacks for lawrence without hardy, 2-3 for gregory, 1 for mincy, 4 for t crawford, and 0 for hayden, 0 for russell, 1 for irving. How the heck are we gonna get to 42-52 sacks?

That's why we need to invest heavily on defense and NOT get a QB with #4.

I wonder why it took a whole season for this "Late for meetings" "Out partying" crapola to surface since he was the most scrutinized Cowboy on the roster.
Because they need to lay the groundwork argument when the news finally becomes official.

Oh, so he partied AND played extremely well! Imagine if he focused all of his effort on playing instead of being the constant distraction the media invented and imagined him as. ;)

But he won't be re-signed...because the team likes mediocre.

This is apparent when one considers the mediocre GM and the coach.

I think "extremely well" is mighty high praise for what most consider pretty mediocre. An extremely impressive 6 sacks, I suppose.

He'll go to a division rival and get 22 sacks.

And he will end Romo's season / career......
.....as we will once again have no back up QB or QB of the future....as JF parties and fans will love him, gets a pass, but Hardy doesn't.
RG3 will be saying he is still the best QB in the NFL as he rehabs a knee injury from a preseason game. But Jerry touts him as the QB for the next 3 to 5 years.

So the Tony, JF, RG3 trio of QB's will be far better than keeping Hardy, because the media says so.

After a turbulent first year in Dallas, it appears Greg Hardy's days as a Cowboy are coming to an end.

Will the Cowboys part ways with the talented yet troubled defensive end?

Watch Bleacher Report NFL Insider Jason Cole discuss Hardy in thevideo above.

This is a solid move IMO. We should be able to find that same production in an improving Lawrence and Gregory. Add another solid FA and it's an overall plus given the removal of the distraction from the locker room. Hardy is decent but he is no T.O.

Get it willie! :oldcouple:

I'm depressed :(

Show me where I said they did? But he was the best lineman. Not sure what games you were watching.

No he wasn't.. Hardy led the team in pressures and was one sack behind Lawrence missing four games and a year off..

You must have missed the four games this defense played, before Hardy stepped on the field. There is a reason people were talking about him 'saving' the defense when Lawrence was still playing.

No I saw all the games and that why u say Dlaw was the best Dlineman towards the end of the season. I guess sacks don't measure the best Dlineman but pressures do...yea ok.

I also saw the games where Hardy didn't show up and was man handled by rookie LT. Teams weren't talking about Hardy being disruptive , they staters taking about Dlaw. Also funny how you said Sacks don't determine the best lineman but are important enough to determine Hardys pay. Obviously someone thinks they are important .

I didn't sacks aren't important, but that's not the only indicator. Pressures force sacks and they force bad passes. Hardy had six sacks and Lawrence 8, and four games Hardy didn't play. Lawrence had a whopping 1 sack going into 10 games of the season. So two made sacks on the season out of way over 700 snaps a season...

Further, Hardy saw way more double-coverage than Lawrence and Marinelli had him playing the tackle position a lot more by the end of the season. You can say he has a few better games by the end of the season, that doesn't mean he was the better DL, or he would have done as well without Hardy on the field. Teams aren't scared of Lawrence.

The Cowboys defense was trash without Hardy in the field and their first four games was their worst performance and Romo was in the field for two games.

So help me understand the logic here. You cut White, Randle, Michael for not being a RKG, and all the while, Hardy is not showing up to meetings, partying, and seemingly being worse than any of the other cuts

In return, you play Hardy more snaps than any other DL at multiple positions, let him start every game and continue this even after you become officially eliminated from anything. But you rik and want to eat almost $1M per game and risk more if he accumulates sacks when you have no intention of resigning and he is a cancer. If there was ever an opportunity to "make a statement" I cant seam to think of one that would scream it more than this.

Yet none of that happened. So either the story doesn't jive or the Cowboys are so inconsistent and dysfunctional that you can never expect logic or thirdly both of the aforementioned can be true, which likely cant be discounted.

The only thing that seems consistent is that if there is a way to come off looking like a chaotic organization - they find it

Hardy was moved inside on some plays but he was not getting double teams toward the end of the season. Dlaw was the better player toward to end of the season, so there is no reason to mention the first four games of the year. Hardy was not facing double teams toward the end of the year, there were games I honestly forgot he was playing.

He was paid to be disruptive, he was not and Dlaw was that is a fact.

If Hardy is not resigned, which is appearing likely, I have two reated questions:

1. What is the perceived need to draft a DE high in the draft or FA;, and,
2. What level of comp pick would you expect his contract with another team to net us if we didn't resign any qualifying free agents.

I think the need would be high. The comp pick would be determined by the contract Hardy signed. I believe. I could be wrong but I think that is how it works. I suspect we will be signing FA's though so I wouldn't expect to gain any great comp picks.
