2. What level of comp pick would you expect his contract with another team to net us if we didn't resign any qualifying free agents.
Losing Hardy won't net us a comp draft pick I believe.

In that case, what if we trade our top pick this year for someone's top pick and 2nd pick next year?
I feel like Romo is running out of time, but the 4th pick is worth a lot more than that.
Yea, something doesn't seem right about this whole situation.
If Hardy was doing all of this, why did Garrett basically stick his head in the sand and ignore it, yet other players were released for dress code violations
i dont expect one. Dallas has to spend some money this offseason. They are still below the minimum spending floor thats in the CBA. I think they were at 85% last time i saw something on it. IMO they have to sign atleast 1 big FA this offseason to help with that situation. This is the yr they have to be complient to the spending. And with no real FAs of their own that will command such a raise, i think its a perfect yr for Dallas to go out and spend. They need 1 to 2 good sized SB deals.
I'm not saying the kid (Gregory) is without talent, but he currently stands at a big fat 0 in the sack column.
Yes, he was injured and didn't get a whole lot of playing time. 2 reasons, he's puny and regardless of how talented Hardy is, if you're talented you also get on the field. Like Mincey calls him, lil Randy needs to earn his playimg time and you do that by making your talent evident. At this point I'm not so sure we should talk so confident about anyone backing Gregory up. 2nd round pick or supposed prospective top 5-10 talent.
That rookie road grader we plugged in at LG this year earned his playing time and when he received his opportunity his talent was as evident as anyone's on the field.
We require a menace opposite of Lawrence. I have seen teams win a Superbowl with Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson at QB. Eli Manning a couple times. But boy did those teams have a menace to go after the oppositions QB in those games.
Regarding Adrian Clayborn, 3 sacks last season. Yes playing on the same line as Gerald McCoy. Not Tyrone Crawford.
I'd be taking ZERO options off the table at DE.
I do not for one second believe Hardy is completely written off. If he'd been benched like Mincey perhaps but not with him getting 90% of the snaps available to him all year.
Now did we cool off on him a bit and may not want to pay him franchise DE money? Very possible, even likely.
But Mario Williams or Greg Hardy? Give me the cheaper guy. Not sure either is a perfect teammate and the chance either live up to 75m type contracts is slim like it is for anyone not at QB.
Mid-level FA DE's cost a lot. You gotta hope you can find one that slips through cracks but again I remind everyone this free agency year is flooded with cap cash.
He did. He didn't like Rex (not that it's an excuse) but if we're in win now mode we need to draft bpa in positions tbat have early impact in my opinion. DE and WR take time to develop
If Hardy is not resigned, which is appearing likely, I have two reated questions:
1. What is the perceived need to draft a DE high in the draft or FA;, and,
2. What level of comp pick would you expect his contract with another team to net us if we didn't resign any qualifying free agents.
The old saying of "you can't have a steak on every plate," some here want to have 2 or 3 steaks on some plates and ramen noodles on far too many others. We have steak on some plates now, we need to add some chicken fried, and hamburger on others to make this thing go.lol yeah just keep getting more de's !!!!!!!
But no big heavy DT !!
@ high draft picks yeilded very little so far.
They better keep hardy. or they wont have a pass rush at all.

All the playoff teams had between 42-53 sacks. We should be looking to improve our dline to get it to playoff level. We had 32 pitiful sacks last year, so we subtract Hardy and are hoping that his departure will help us get better?
What will gregory get us - 2 sacks? Maybe 3. Lawrence maybe 6-8 now that he gets all the attention. T crawford- 4? How do we get to 42?

the DE position is not a position rookies usually come in and impact right off the back. He has all the tools, moves, and motor to be fine at RDE. Adrian Clayborn is a cheap option who is starting material. Yes he only had a few sacks but he also had like 8 hurries as the back up in Atlanta. Not to mention he is still very solid at defending the run.
why wouldn't he? Hardy was shut down by rookie; and back up OT's. If you're insinuating that he commanded double teams, go back and look. After the first few games, he didn't do much, especially at the end of the season. He wasn't the difference maker he was brought in and paid for.
Let him walk, sign Mario Williams or Ware to come in and share snaps with Gregory. Re-sign Mincey as well, he got as many sacks the year before with a worse defense, than Hardy got last year.
So help me understand the logic here. You cut White, Randle, Michael for not being a RKG, and all the while, Hardy is not showing up to meetings, partying, and seemingly being worse than any of the other cuts
In return, you play Hardy more snaps than any other DL at multiple positions, let him start every game and continue this even after you become officially eliminated from anything. But you rik and want to eat almost $1M per game and risk more if he accumulates sacks when you have no intention of resigning and he is a cancer. If there was ever an opportunity to "make a statement" I cant seam to think of one that would scream it more than this.
Yet none of that happened. So either the story doesn't jive or the Cowboys are so inconsistent and dysfunctional that you can never expect logic or thirdly both of the aforementioned can be true, which likely cant be discounted.
The only thing that seems consistent is that if there is a way to come off looking like a chaotic organization - they find it

I'm not a fan of anyone at 4 right now. That could change.
I think that Mario Williams would be a good free agent addition, but he just can't cost too much.
