it would be a good fit for the lakers IMO, he isnt like tony parker or D rose, where they score first, distribute second, he is like J Kidd where he can dominate a game without scoring. having said that, aquiring williams will be extremely hard for the lakers, he CAN go to any team with cap room, so the lakers would have to compete with those teams PLUS any team that can offer something the nets would like more. if the nets are trying to rebuild, they will want bynum, not gasol. plus, that would still leave the lakers playing basically 3 vs 5 or 4 vs 5 if artest comes back to the same level he played at the end of the year.

you will have kobe making close to 30 million, deron would make 20 and gasol 20 (or bynum 16) thats already over the cap, im not sure but i thought i heard the lakers dont have any first round picks (someone might have to double check that) so i dont see how they improve their roster after that. i think the better move is trading gasol for 3 or 4 good players and/or some draft picks

for instance, the rockets had an interest in pau, if i was a lakers fan id rather do a trade for scola and kevin martin and a sign and trade for dragic for pau instead of trying to get williams alone

Yeah that would be better or just a Gasol for Lowry/Scola trade.

Lowry/Sessions
Kobe/Goudelock
MWP/Ebanks
Scola/Beasley
Bynum

Use TPE on Beasley. Blake would probably be gone in that trade. Still probably not a championship team most likely, but it's a start.

this. mavericks are in for a long dry spell. honestly i would consider trading dirk but i know that will never happen with the emotional attachment to him.

Don't see that at all. They finally have financial flexibility now and the future. Dirk can still play at an all star level for 3-4 years. Cuban will put players around him and they will still be in the top 8 come playoff time. My guess is you'll be shocked come next year at what the team will look like and some players no one expected will be here.

Williams is not an equal to Kobe. If he were traded to the Lakers he'd be Kobe's sidekick.

yeah but for how long. I agree that Kobe would love to play with Derron, but it's only a very short amount of time before Derron would not be Kobe's side kick. It honestly wouldn't suprise many people if in 2012-13 Derron was a better player

It would surprise me. Kobe was a top 5 player this year and is still the best 2 guard in the league. Meanwhile Deron wasn't even a top 5 point guard this past season. CP3, Parker, Rondo, Westbrook, and Nash were all better IMO. Kobe may fall off a little bit, but he's still gonna be at least a top 10 player and a top 2 shooting guard. Deron will probably be better than Nash, but I honestly wouldn't expect him to outplay Paul, Parker, Rondo, or Westbrook.

He didn't get noticed because he played on a bad team. But OKC, PHX, BOS and SA would all be better with Derron Williams. 21 and 8.7 is pretty sick for a PG. Don't see how Nash even compares at this point

False, those teams are good because of chemistry, you can't just change a player and expect that the TEAM will be better

And as for Kobe, he has a LOT of miles on him and he had a pretty significant procedure that has no long term history to draw conclusions from, so it's possible he has a dramatic drop because of health. But if he is healthy he won't be much different that this year.

Deron Williams prefers to re-sign with the Nets, but he also would consider going to the Lakers in a sign-and-trade, according to a source.
The Lakers appear to be a more suitable alternative for Williams than the Mavericks.

"There's no longevity there," said a source close to Williams of the Mavericks.

Deron went to Russia to figure out how (and how much) money he will get under the table to resign with the Nets. He will be a Net.

That Prokhorov guy is as dirty as they come.

AK47 plays there. They also were trying to recruit him. DWILL will probably stay a NEt but thats sad cause Billy King and that Russian will never know how to put a consistent team together. Its the Nets lol

Sam Amick - Really funny that he just happens to be from California. He used to write for the Sacramento Bee. He just happens to be writing articles about DWill just can't wait to get to LA according to his "source".

You know my favorite part though. I find it really funny that he wrote a story yesterday about how LA NEEDS to trade Bynum for Howard. Don't you find that a little odd? He writes about LA NEEDING to trade Howard for Bynum and all of a sudden he finds a source that puts Deron chasing LA? I'm sensing a little Laker fan in there somewhere.

First of all, there is NO WAY LA can sign Deron. They don't even come close to having anything resembling cap space. Second, they want to get rid of Gasol. If Deron told Brooklyn do a S&T where I go to LA and you get Gasol or I'm leaving for Dallas. They would very likely tell him to leave. BK has been all about cap space for flexibility. He's not changing that now. The cap space is worth more than Gasol to Brooklyn.Everyday there will be another rumor and source.

Gasol wouldn't be going to the Nets he would be going somewhere else in a 3 team trade.

No we don't. We're way over the cap and won't have any cap space till 2014.

It's not a hard cap. We have cap room and we will have more before the start of the seasons. We may have to pay exception against that but we have room. We have cut our payroll considerably with the move we made before the end of the seasons.

Remember, the Lakers still have a 3 Million Exception, an 8 million Trade Exception and Amnesty Provision for one contract that they have yet to excercise, in addition to moves that will be made on the Roster. At least one big contract will be leaving via trade IMO. I think the Lakers will have room to do something if they find a deal they like. JMO
