Holy balls.....wow.......30 million is a decent deal, but 40 is way too much and 60 is just ridiculously crazy..

If I was Jerry, I would just say, "hey, we'll throw some bonuses in there that will get you there when you rush for 1700 yards like those other backs did. But until then, you get $30 million."

What a coincidence!

They want LT money.

Some of us want an LT running back.

Damn, looked in the Daily Zone for the article...my bad for the repost.

Anyhow, I think we'll just let him play out the tender if he's not willing to budge, then let him test FA next season. Then I think he'll see what he's worth, and sign with us for a more reasonable amount.

I know I will probally get bashed for this, but he is not worth that and is not in the same league as LT.

I'm not sure about paying that kind of money for a RB.

The smart way to do it is draft a 2nd or 3rd round RB every 3 years. Unless the guy's Emmitt, we can let RB's walk and replace them fairly quickly and cheaply in the draft.

Yeah, that is crazy money, and there is noway he should get even close to $60 million, especially when you consider that you have to think about drafting a backup RB in the first round to help him.

Figured he would ask for Pro-Bowl money, even though he hasn't proven to be a franchise feature back yet.

I'd tell him we can't afford to pay him that much because we have to pay the other back that has to play in tandem with him, in order to maximize his value. :D

Barber hasn't shown he's worth 40-60 million. I say let him play out the season and let him prove he's worth that kind of money. I doubt he will.

I like Marion but he's asking for to much to fast imo. I don't know wether to be mad at Barber or Rosenhaus for asking for such a silly contract. Draft two running back's and see if he changes his tune. Barber just hasn't proved he's worth that kind of commitment.

If he doesn't come down on that offer, then let him play out his restricted year and go from there. Wow. I'm stunned just like everyone else. The salary cap will go up, so it will give us some wiggle room, but you can't sign Barber for $60mil and also get Ware, Newman, TO, Canty, etc re-signed.

hell 30 mil is pushing it. He is good but he is not that good. Break 1400 yards and lead the NFL for several years before you ask that much.I am thinking the 25 mil range and even that is high.

I wish I could ask for a 300% pay raise from my boss and expect to at least get a 200% pay raise

And another thing don't you see, Barber belongs to Jerry for 2.5 million for the 2008 season, so, Jerry has offered Barber 30 million genoursly without seeing if Marion can carry the full load of an elite running back and Barber want's more...

The pressure is on Barber to sign right now, the cowboys have him locked up for 2.5 million, why would Barber want to enter the season playing under the tender and take a risk of being injured or outplayed by a rookie running back?

No,no,no, Jerry has barber right where he want's him fella's. If I was Barber, I'd take the thirty million and run, literaly!!

wow.

After reading this thread again the fickleness of the cowboys fans just comes out.

You pay him for his production. Not how many carries, what he does with the carries. He has been plenty good with the ball in his hands.

I always think the cowboys fan is the most fickle in all of sports and threads like this re-assure that for me.

Its a negotiation.
