Sources: Hopkins would welcome trade to Cowboys; willing to make financial concessions

Hopkins is 30 and he hasn’t done much the past two seasons. He’s missed games due to a suspension and injuries. That along with him costing us a draft pick or more is why he’s not here. He’s still a good receiver, but is on the downside of his career.
And what the hell is obj? The guy the owner is infatuated with…

Not going to have to give up a draft pick or two for OBJ. He’s a free agent. If Hopkins was a free agent I would rather have him but I don’t care to give up a premium draft pick for him.

But I guess this is what happens when you have a front office that chooses Leighton Vander Esch over Bobby Wagner.
Not sure where this comes from. Who said they did? Wagner probably has a price tag above the Cowboys budget. That isn't the Cowboys choosing one player over another.

I'd like to eat steak every night. My wife says 'you will not because it's too expensive.'

Amari Cooper is a better wide receiver then OBJ is as well and we all saw what the Cowboys decided to do with him.
No he isn't. The Cooper love around her is ridiculous. He's not better than OBJ or Hopkins. Maybe today due to injury but before that, not even close.

It was absolutely 100% the right thing to do. He was the #2 WR at that point with a ridiculous contract and the browns bought it hook, line, and sinker!
For a whole 5th round pick?

Coop was still the top dog here when he left and while his salary was close to he top when he was traded, a few months later guys were making 8 to 10m more per year with their new contracts.

That is a unfair shot at McClay. He doesn't decide who the pick will be. He is awesome at his job. If the coaches and GM don't listen, nothing he can do.
They definitely need to listen more to the guy who said Taco Charlton was a better fit than T.J. Watt.

I heard him say it.

No he wasn't. so a guy with 865 yards was the top dog over a WR with 1100? lol Dude was a clown and not worth the money and the Browns did them a favor.

Even though I should be used to this it's really frustrating to see the lack of effort to improving this team in the offseason.

Here we have a superstar player, the kind of skill position upgrade this QB needs, practically begging for the Cowboys to come get him.

The money? He'll work with you. He isn't looking to get paid.

The reported price? A 2nd round pick. To add one of the top receiving weapons in the game.

Too much? We have to hold onto those draft picks? Especially one that high? Let's take a look at what the Cowboys have done with their 2nd round picks over the last 15 years. Even with the great and almighty Will McClay.

Is there a player on that list better than Hopkins? I guess you could argue Lee, Lawrence and Diggs (I think he's better than all of them) but the fact is their usual return on a 2nd round investment pales in comparison to the instant impact Hopkins would provide in a supposed all in season.

He would make the QB better. Isn't that the most important objective this offseason so we don't have a 49ers part 3?

How could they possibly, even these colossal idiots, not be interested in this? Why am I reading a report like this from a legit team source?

It's an insult to the fans. It's why my blood boils every time we re-sign an old member of the band. Here's an actual real upgrade that can win you those playoff games, someone who can potentially change things and break this cycle of losing and we make no effort to make it happen. We're busy looking for bargains, not serious about winning.

But I guess this is what happens when you have a front office that chooses Leighton Vander Esch over Bobby Wagner.

Meet the new season. Same as the last season.

We like our guys.

P.s. keep buying those jerseys.

Age of All-Pro Receivers:

2022: 23, 24, 30, 23, 29, 25
2021: 28, 29, 25, 21, 27, 22
2020: 28, 27, 26, 21, 23, 23
2019: 26, 30, 27, 23, 27, 26

You don't value a player based on past performance, but on projected future performance. Unless, I guess, you are Risen.

Hopkins remaining contract years will be played at:
Age 31, Age 32

I'm not saying I completely oppose Hopkins to Cowboys. But acting like a 2nd round pick + 16 mil per season is a slam dunk good decision? That's looney.

I'm surprised the Bears don't go after Hopkins.. They got the picks and the salary cap. Team him with Moore..

I’m not getting the love for Hopkins.
For me, these are the biggest factors.
Dhop can make difficult, contested catches.
Cardinals need to offload his contract so they don't have leverage
He wants to be here and is willing to be flexible

Lol, so some guy said it in a tweet and it must be true? Article on Cards wire… there’s absolutely no strategic feasible reason to trade Hopkins much less for a 2nd (only) round pick. Doing so would only save 8m on this years cap and create a 22m dead cap hit. They’d be better off cutting him and designating him June 1st!
