Sources: Randy Gregory rejoins Cowboys after appeal hearing

He'd rejoin the team regardless.

Whatever happens, it's because Gregory has a problem and not because the league sucks. I think their escalating suspensions for smoking pot are ********, but it's established policy at this point and not really a grey area for anybody.

If the rumors are true and he really did get a violation for missing a test while he was in rehab, there are going to be provisions in place for players who miss testing summons, I'm sure. If he and he reps or the team reps couldn't get it sorted, I'm not sure it's the league's fault. Does anybody know if teams are notified when a player is notified that a test is required? I don't imagine they're just mailing these things to the players' houses and they're getting thrown out with the junk mail.

It'll get reduced to 8 games so the commish can laugh as we all just sit around waiting for him to fail/miss test #8.

This situation is so weird and frustrating. Can anyone else recall a similar scenario? Argh the NFL is so clandestine. WHATS HAPPENING?????????

I'm sure the cowboys internally have a good idea about what is happening. They just can't publicly discuss it. Doesn't make it easier for us fans, though

Co sign. Between this and the jaylin smith fire/didn't nerve it's been a roller coaster

Interesting .. with all the fans eagerness and interest .. I'd assume Jerry has the same feeling and might be calling Goodell on hourly basis to have any sense of what to expect ... and Goodell says "Jerry .. don't worry .. I got this .. just don't say anything whatsoever to anyone ... not you .. not your son .. not your HC"

I can smoke pot as an attorney, but Randy Gregory can't smoke pot as a football player.

This is the real problem here.

Not in Texas, and not most states without a medical reason. Other than that, great post.

If it's not late February, then it's not fair to the team. You don't let him come back to play late in the season then suspend him now. Besides, his suspension is for a year - a season. He shouldn't be penalized this year then all of next year. That bridges two seasons.

I believe that the suspension is for a number of games regardless of the stage of season, that guy from the Bills with Crohn's Disease is serving a multi season suspension at the moment. Don't know what the rules are regarding time from suspension to appeal decision. Seems like the time varies, but if the duration between suspension announcement - appeal - appeal hearing is within the allowable statutory period, they should make a prompt post appeal hearing finding in the next day or two, or suspend the proceedings until after the season.

The fact that Floyd is playing for the Pats after and unambiguous filmed triple DUI which carries a mandatory jail sentence, is another matter entirely!

I don't get the NEED part. I've seen/heard that before. Do we need him? No. Could we use him? Sure, but we haven't needed him all year. You can't miss what you never had.

Just going off his flashes last game, Jr. He was in the backfield quite a bit, and with Lawrence out, IMO he is "needed."

Mind you, not like Lee, Jones, or Clai. But his presence is definitely noted. I won't get mad at the fragment that thinks he's extraneous, but I disagree with said fragment. With respect, Jr (and I know we've had our disagreements in the past).

Someone on the twitterverse (take it with a grain of salt) and I don't recall who it was...Said something along the lines that the NFL could have sent someone to the rehab facility to do the test.
Word was they did and Randy wasn't there. But this reads as if that incident was the 10 game suspension. I'm lost.

This is the real problem here.

Worse yet the lawmakers, ie politicians can do all the drugs they want, no testing. How come all league employees, including commissioner right on down to owners and so on, are not required to be tested...its just another example of "do as I say, not as I do". It's a discriminatory policy as far as I'm concerned...

So the rumor is that he failed his last test because he was in rehab.

I can not imagine the NFL suspending a player for a year if they were in rehab for their problem.

We don't have all of the details but if that story is true I think the NFL would receive a lot of backlash if they suspended him.

It would be odd for the NFL to schedule a drug test while the player is in rehab.
