ESPN is reporting this:

"The most recent violation, which is believed to be for missing another test, occurred during the regular season while he was with the team but not practicing."

Wasn't rehab during training camp? If so, are they indicating he missed another test after rehab? (during the regular season)

I have no idea and have no expectation. Open mind given incomplete information always seems teh best course to my view.

I just see no reason to expect this to turn out in Dallas' favor. If somehow it does, then that's great.

I'd like to think it was a conspiracy by Mara, but the data suggests otherwise. It's no one's fault but Gregory's (even though pot should be legal).

Per wikipedia, the Cowboys have the 2nd most banned substance suspensions (18) and the Commanders have the most (19, haha), The Giants are middle of the pack (upper middle) at 13.

So the rumor is that he failed his last test because he was in rehab.

I can not imagine the NFL suspending a player for a year if they were in rehab for their problem.

We don't have all of the details but if that story is true I think the NFL would receive a lot of backlash if they suspended him.
All you need to do is look at the Bell situation in Pitt to see that the system is wack. The guy was suspended twice, both times RG reduced the suspension, and now I heard through an interview with a Pitt reporter that Bell has cut a deal with RG that his next suspension is only 4 games.

t was stated by Fish on The Fan this morning that Mr 4th and long told him that the NFL can have a courier regardless of where you are to collect the specimen for screening. If this is true I don't see any way he wins his appeal. Of course this is the NFL we are talking about so there is no telling what the outcome will be

You really threw me off with the end of your paragraph. I thought you were leading up to the fact that the NFL could have hired a courier to deliver the test but didn't so there is a chance Gregory wins... but you said there is no chance he wins... doesn't make sense.

Gregory can't control whether or not the NFL takes all the steps they need to get a drug test to a player.

Did they happen to mention what the deal is?

I still dont know how you could be so fortunate to play in the NFL then mess it up so bad multiple times. Regardless what happens with him next year they should keep him around for 2018. However, one more slip upmI cant see how he returns...

The interview was on Sirius XM and he glossed over it pretty fast. All he really said was that there was an agreement between Bell and the league that he would only face a 4 game suspension for a failed test again. BS in my opinion.

How is this not bigger news if true.

Just let him freaking play already! While I realize it's against the rules it's like he's some criminal or something. It's ridiculous!

I can smoke pot as an attorney, but Randy Gregory can't smoke pot as a football player.

This is the real problem here.

Actually most employers ban smoking pot, regardless of if it is legal for recreational purposes.

After graduating from UT, I worked for awhile for Dell Computers and they did random drug tests once a month. They never told you what day during the month you were going to be tested on, hence why it is called a "random" drug test. Anyways, it was part of your employment contract that you had to pee clean to keep your job. If you failed a test you were terminated immediately, no questions asked.

So I had a choice, either smoke pot and get fired or not smoke pot and keep my job. Gregory had the same choice, he could smoke pot and be suspended or he could not smoke pot and play on Sundays. Unfortunately Gregory chose the former over the latter.

That's because Dell sucks to work for. I live in Austin, I know a lot of Dell guys, there's a reason they all leave.

I haven't, and nobody I know, has been drug tested by any company worth a crap. Unless it was the initial one and that was a one time deal, and even those companies are usually bureaucratic hell holes.

The only guys I know getting drug tested are labor type jobs, or my buddies out in the oil patch. And that's just for workman comp/liability purposes.

Once you get into competitive industries, companies want talent more than anything. They couldn't care less what you do in your off time if you're valuable.

Most? Bond companies and insurers demand drug testing to issue a policy when it makes actuarial sense. Workers comp and corporate liability included.

IOW, they are compelled to drug test for pot because it is conflated with heroin and PCP.

Most companies are bottom line oriented and drug testing for pot is expensive. Once studies are done to analyze the impact of pot on work performance and injury I bet it gets removed.

Further most places drug test once. Again because of bottomline issues. Dell is an exception not the rule. Before I started contracting the jobs I got I quit for a month passed the piss test and started smoking again the next day. Never once got fired.
