If Gregory is suspended and not paid, is he compensated for the time that ten tests a month takes?

How is he notified of the test and what are time constraints? Does he go to the tester or does the tester come to him?

There have been numerous jokes about former NFL players working menial jobs, but if Gregory or any suspended player were working such a job how would the league schedule around his work schedule?

He'll be suspended for a year, you don't need a hearing that we all know is nothing more than a dog and pony show...If he was in rehab, or was on weekend pass from rehab and missed a drug test because of poor communication, that's on the league, the rehab facility, and his medical advisor to figure out. Too bad these players don't tell the NFLPA to take a hike, with that kind of representation, who needs enemies. The players would be wiser to contribute to a legal fund of their own instead of paying union dues and hire their own lawyers, at least you know your lawyer is working for you, can these players say the NFLPA works for them.

Shortly after returning to the star...witnesses reported him celebrating. Word was there was a strange odor coming from the bathroom and Cypress Hill was heard playing in the background.
In other news, In Ney York City, Commissioner Goodell and John Mara were seen coming out of a Limo, walking quickly into Morton's Steak House, Mara carrying what looked like a black attaché briefcase which was handcuffed to Mara's wrist.

Spare me, really. Most players never have to see Goodell. They're too busy working their butts off & obeying the rules. If players don't like the rules, LEAVE. There are plenty of guys out there who realize that playing in this league is an honor & a privilege & are more than willing to abstain from smoking weed in order to follow their dreams. I get so sick of you cry babies, I could just puke.

You sound just like one

Welp, I guess I don't get it.

If he missed the test because he wasn't at the rehab facility why did he not just say ok, I'm here now I was at such and such, let's do this.

It could be the next day, next hour, whatever.

Or, go to an office where they do the testing, pee then send the dated results.

Seems so simple to rectify if willing, IMO.

Maybe they give the kid a break.

This is one time, just giving the kid enough rope to hang himself or actually walk out of the mess, would present a human side to the NFL as well. It might tamper some of the insultive tone that many fans hold the 'officials' of the sport.

Right now, Gregory does at least have a small corner to build from...

Pick it, pack it, fire it up, come along
And take hits from the bong
Put the blunt down just for a second
Don't get me wrong it's not a new method
Inhale, exhale, just got a ounce in the mail
I like a blunt or a big fat coal
But my double barrel bong is gettin' me stoned
I'm skill it, there's water inside don't spill it

So the rumor is that he failed his last test because he was in rehab.

I can not imagine the NFL suspending a player for a year if they were in rehab for their problem.

We don't have all of the details but if that story is true I think the NFL would receive a lot of backlash if they suspended him.
ESPN is reporting this:

"The most recent violation, which is believed to be for missing another test, occurred during the regular season while he was with the team but not practicing."

If the Cowboys are able to bring Gregory into the playoffs, he would be a great rotational player to add to the upgraded playoff roster. I'm not into a crystal ball on the other implications...

That flies in the face of what was reported earlier. It was said that it happen while he was in the rehab facility.

I think that's a rumor that came about with people trying to connect dots, not from any sort of source. I think the fact is that he missed a test after rehab had concluded. Could be wrong, but there have been almost no facts about this case.

Does anyone realistically expect Gregory to not be suspended pretty much immediately?

I have no idea and have no expectation. Open mind given incomplete information always seems teh best course to my view.

Shame that he's likely gone again. As Sturm pointed out, he's an exceptional athlete and could be quite an asset.
