Sources: Ronald Leary has requested trade from Cowboys

It's a shame because he's worth more as a backup than a 6th round pick well get.

With him being unhappy and requesting a trade, yeah a 6th is about right. No team is going to phone in a fourth. Folks tend to undervalue our players until trade talks start, then want the moon. Oh, he sucks, oh can we trade him for a third?

Now, nothing. Thanks, Ronald.

Why blame Leary after the team essentially said he was available during the draft?? It only makes sense that the player openly wants to latch on to another team now, get acclimated, and not have to wait until late in training camp.

Why blame him?

You're exactly right...Ron Leary is a good, not great, player. He really did nothing to lose his position as a
starter. He probably knows he has to be starting to get good money on the open market next year. I don't
think you can blame the man at all. I hope Dallas can work out a decent trade for him because he deserves it.

Leary can start on several teams.
Makes sense that he'd want that chance to maximize his future earning in his last year before FA.

He's actually pretty valuable to Dallas for the price though. Guess it depends on how the other backups are looking.

I feel like he is going to end up in Jacksonville for some reason.

When Leary is healthy, he is a very good OG with a nasty streak. I wish Collins could play RT which would allow the five best Olinemen on the field. Of Green can ever stay healthy enough to unseat Free, Leary is very good trade bait.

I don't trade him unless someone is paying over the odds. He's not starting so missing camp isn't a big deal right now.

So this should make for an interesting discussion: What player that the Cowboys need could Leary garner in an even swap? Legit #2 receiver? Situational pass-rusher? Nickel Corner?

He shouldn't go public because his value goes down.

Now, there's no way I trade him. Worth more to keep.

His value was already clearly depressed. The Cowboys made it no secret that they would entertain trading him and that no one really offered much prior to the draft for him.

Leary did nothing to hurt his value. His value is what it is and clearly evidenced by the fact the Cowboys couldn't get anyone to give them anything for him prior to the draft.

I dont trade him unless the value is there which it won't be. We're not getting a high pick or a guy that's gonna step in and be a starter

Go public? I haven't seen Leary, a source close to Leary, or his agent quoted anywhere. This info very likely came from the team.

And again this comes after Stephen Jones told the entire league that Leary was available for a trade last month.
