Take away the entire drug issue, and Quincy has much more upside as a backup QB (IMO) than journeyman guys like Kordell Stewart, Jeff Blake, Chris Chandler, Charlie Batch, Rodney Peete, Shaun King, Tony Banks, Mark Brunell, etc.

Quincy must have really screwed up since a majority of these other guys still have NFL jobs for the most part.

Totally agree...And you are right, whatever is being whispered around the league about him must be scaring everyone away.

No, try I can't comment on the niner situation cuz I don't remember the games. I kinda blocked out the dave campo area from my mind. I wasn't with the qc supporters doing cj's on every completed pass.

What's being whispered, it's common knowledge.

A very average QB, a few days past having a leg up by his coach gets released.

The NFLPA files a grievance saying he was released for failing ANOTHER drug test.

The Jets take a chance on him and he lets his second team down in less than a year, and reportedly entered yet another rehab.

At least 3 different media sources have said the last issue with the Jets would be his 3RD STRIKE which will result in a 4 game suspension.

So we have an average at best talent, who has let two teams down with his off field issues, who plays the most important position on the field, who you won't even have for 4 games, and who is one more strike away from a year suspension.

Teams would be crawling all over him without these whispers.;)

To the tune of "Casey at the Bat"

The outlook wasn't brilliant for the Dallas offense that day,
The score stood seventeen to fourteen with two minutes left to play,
And when Johnson dropped an errant pass, and Glenn dropped one, too,
Quincy's fans cried "Conspiracy!", while his critics could do naught but boo,

The crowd steadily dwindled, but those who remained,
Prayed for a miracle, a freak thunderstorm with rain,
They thought, "If only Troy or Roger were here to take control,"
They had no faith in the offense with Quincy running the show,

But Troy was in Foxboro, watching the Pats play in the snow,
Roger was running his business and watching his money grow,
So upon the remaining crowd, the pall of despair descended,
For there seemed little chance of scoring so long as the other team defended,

But Jones broke a long run, and the crowd gave a sigh,
Then Keyshawn snagged an out, though it was thrown a little high,
And when the offense huddled, and the refs had spotted the ball,
The Cowboys were past the fifty, to the amazement of all,

Then from the remaining partisans, there rose tumultous cheers,
It rumbled through Texas Stadium, and roared in Quincy's ears,
It made his spirit soar, and it made his heart pound,
He took his place among the other greats that had also heard this sound,

Now his faced looked calm, and as he bent to take the snap,
He saw the cornerbacks playing tight, and tackles playing the gap,
He saw the linebackers playing man under, and the safeties in cover two,
He saw Glenn in the slot, and he knew what he had to do,

Quincy gave a hard count, and the center snapped on three,
A quick playaction to Jones, and Glenn was running free,
Quincy wound his mighty arm and let the football fly,
It sailed over Glenn's head, about five feet too high,

"Kill him! Kill Terry Glenn," cried Quincy's loyal fan base,
And they likely would have killed him but for the look on Quincy's face,
With a quick pat to his own chest and a friendly slap to Glenn's head,
Quincy took the blame even though his critics were seeing red,

With a deprecating smile of humility, Quincy's visage beamed,
And his fans knew he was not at fault, but had taken one for the team,
And as he stepped back under center, with Keyshawn to his right,
His fans remained certain that there would be a victory party that night,

The center hiked the ball, and Quincy dropped back,
Keyshawn split the seam, and exploded through the crack,
He was streaking down the field, the corner was far behind,
But Quincy dumped it in the flat to Anderson, the only receiver he could find,

"Coslet!" screeched Quincy's loyal fans, too angered to clearly see,
That Mo was in the booth because Coslet was fired in Oh-Three,
But Quincy raised his hands for quiet, and his fans applauded his aplomb,
They knew that on third and nine, Quincy would finally launch a bomb,

Quincy lined up in the shotgun, with Glenn and Johnson split wide,
Witten was lined up on Quincy's left, and Jones was at his side,
The ball was snapped on a silent count as soon as the ref blew his whistle,
Glenn and Johnson streaked downfield, and Quincy launched a missile,

Oh, somewhere in the state of Texas, there must be a happy crowd,
Somewhere fans are cheering, somewhere they are proud,
Somewhere a team has a victory, and well-earned accolades are accepted,
But that somewhere isn't Dallas, because Quincy's pass was intercepted.

Also, everyone. My bad, I forgot to credit the true author of "Quincy At The Helm." He goes by the name "aaron215" and he can be found on the DMN site or on mine. firedalehansen.net.

What in either of those threads is different from what I said in this one?

Did I say Henson was beating out Bledsoe? Which was your claim, remember?

I said bringing in Bledsoe is a mistake, and I STILL think it is.

We should be finding out what we have, so that we can move from there if needed.

Attempting to make a point works better when your example fits what you claim.

It's safe to say that you prefer Henson over Bledsoe to start.

And while you may claim that you never said that Henson would beat out Bledsoe ... I'm positive you said that he could, would, can, might or something to that effect. Again, I'm positive you said something to that effect. I just don't feel like searching through all the nonsense to find it.

Hos made a few "ifs" regarding this too. The difference is, he'd be man enough to admit it. Though, he has stepped back off that recenty.

You don't want to look because you know it's not true, but hell why should anyone trust your memory?

You had me claiming to be an intern at camp too last year, it was Dale.

I'll make it easy on you, my position on Henson beating out Bledsoe was and IS, if...again that is IF...by some outside chance it did happen, it would be the best thing that could happen to this team's long term future.

For someone who claims to have a TEAM AGENDA, you sure seem to hate the idea of something that would be best for the team's future.

The word hypocrite comes to mind.

I'm done feeding the troll.

You're going to starve yourself? ;)

That's where we disagree and we have for a long time. Henson is NOT good for the team. We have a good chance to compete this year. The only thing Henson would do would be squander our chances to be a playoff team with his deer in the head lights play.

Other than the QB position though, we agree on quite a bit.

Oh, and I've known about Dale for a while. It was someone else I was thinking of. At the time I thought it was you for some reason (chat room maybe) and the only reason I brought it up was because I was in awe that someone with as little rational behind his statements would be allowed to be an intern. Get over it though. Clearly, it wasn't you. I think the only reason you bring it up is to flatter yourself into thinking ... ah nevermind ...

BTW, that Parcells is a character, huh?

... Bringing in someone else just to spite you.

He knows darn well that playing Henson now is better for the future of the team. Silly me. What was I thinking? I just don't have the comprehension skills to see that Parcells - a HOF coach - is doing these things to spite YOU. It has nothing to do with the Henson really not being the answer. It's all about spite.

;) Just for you.

I don't know, Chad had a higher qb rating with the Bears than Quincy ever did with the Boys.

Good Gawd, Quincy's been gone a year, and folks are STILL trying to suggest that Chad is better than he was... yeah, Chad had a 73.6 QBR rating last year-- in limited play... and yeah, that was better than any QBR that Quincy had with the Boys... now, for the REST of the story...

Last year, Quincy had a 98.2 QBR, almost 15 points higher than Chad's was... didn't think to mention that, did you?? Even more impressive, he ran up a superior rating in spite of looking downfield, while Chad did nothing but dump the ball off... evidence of that is found in Quincy's 8.59 yards per attempt average (only the Indianapolis Colts had a higher YPA as a team last year), while Chad had a comically feeble 5.61 YPA (only 6 teams in the league had a lower average)...

And for their CAREERS, Quincy's QBR stands at 71.7, Chad's at 69.1... and of course, Quincy has gone 18-16 as a starter, while Chad is 3-11...

Yeah, Hutch was CLEARLY the better quarterback... it is, of course, perfectly OK to be down on Quincy for screwing the team by smokin' weed, but anybody who still tries to argue that Chad Hutchinson is a better quarterback is a freakin' MORON...

And his winning of the job when they competed in pre-season was pretty questionable, by a hair maybe

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... you idiot, Quincy had the highest quarterback rating in the ENTIRE LEAGUE in that preseason... IIRC, it was over 110... Hutch's rating was MUCH lower than Quincy's... by the time Parcells announced his starter, the decision was a foregone conclusion...

I'm not sure who the person that started this rumor is referring to as his source, but it ain't me. I kinda find what he is saying hard to believe, because for one Q has never lived in a condo. He went from an apartment to a house in Las Colinas. And for 2, Quincy is still living in his home, and it is not for sale. Andre Gurode lives in a home in Frisco.

It's my understanding that Q will probably not be playing anywhere this year...and certainly not with the Boys.

Hope this clears a little of this rumor up..

Just FYI, the guy who started the rumor over on the Cowboys Forum board claimed that a friend of his was a lady real estate agent who helped new Cowboys players find accomodations in the area, either rentals or properties to buy... he also claimed the lady real estate agent in question was a good friend of Quincy's mother, and that's where the info was supposedly coming from...

By the description, it sounded like you, but I figured that if you had that kind of info, you wouldn't hesitate to share it your own self... still, it was good to hear you clear the air about your lack of involvement in all this... bluntly, I think the thread over on Cowboys Forum was a bit of mischief making, nothing substantial at all...

But I sure do love how it got all the Quincy haters all wound up... it's almost enough to make me wish the Cowboys WOULD bring Quincy back, just to watch the meltdown that would ensue... LOL...

Personally, though I thought I saw talent in the guy (and still do think that), if he can't put the bong away long enough to pursue his NFL career, I don't want him... what good is a player who's one toke away from suspension??
