The Cowboys might have lost first-round pick Marcus Spears for a significant period of time.
The rookie defensive end was carted off the field during Friday morning's practice after suffering knee, ankle and groin injuries while trying to make a tackle during team drills.
"We'll MRI and X-ray it," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said, "but it wasn't good."
Spears, who signed a five-year, $9.35 million deal with $6.7 million guaranteed last Saturday, got tangled up in a pile during a run by Anthony Thomas in team drills. He tried to get up on his own but couldn't put any weight on his right leg, and two teammates eventually helped him to the sideline.
After trying to walk off the injury, Spears limped across the field to the training table and got his leg examined by team trainers. He then was carted back to the club's locker room, clutching his leg with a mixture of pain and disappointment on his face.
Parcells had little information on Spears' injury during his daily news conference.
"I don't know," Parcells said. "We'll know here in a little while. I don't want to speculate because I don't know myself."
Spears had been working at second-team left end behind Kenyon Coleman throughout camp, though Parcells said he purposely has not played all his potential starters together until after the second preseason game. Spears practiced with the first team during the May mini-camp.
I think he's got good potential," Parcells said. "But he needs a lot of work."
Seventh-round pick Jay Ratliff will likely slide into Spears' spot with the second team.

Slap me and call me Sally if you see Glover take more than 2-3 snaps at DE in a regular season game.

It looks like he won't be back this year and even worse he may never be the player we hoped for when we got him.
Maybe we can get some of our money back and trade him to Snyder who is a sucker anyway for Arrington who they stole money from and he doesn't want to be there no more? Would they give us a first round or second round pick too then I'd do the trade and hope for the best.

More sloppy journalism from the idiot staff at dallascowboys.com (i.e. Eatman, Spagnola, etc.)
Good, because then you'll laugh when I say Billy Bob has checked in after all.Banned_n_austin said:That said, I was joking with you a little.

Who's Not:
Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells and owner Jerry Jones just lost one of their first-round draft choices for the season after signing him to a five-year, $9.35-million deal with $6.7 million in guarantees just six days ago. That's a huge loss for a team trying to switch to a 3-4 defense because Spears had the versatility to play defensive end or slide over to the nose. He was expected to win the starting job at left end.
I hope this is wrong.
You were also saying that Glover will have his plate full playing NT ...
Guess what?
He's played that position before and done very well at it. You've been reading to many message boards to think that you have to be a tub-butt to play NT.
RonBurgandy31 said:No all thats just somebody speculating the MRI take awhile LIKE 1 TO 2 DAYS
From yahoo health:
The radiologist may discuss preliminary results of the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with you right after the test. Complete results are usually available for your health professional in 1 to 2 days.
Suggestions for further investigation may be included with the results.
An MRI scan can sometimes detect a problem in a tissue or organ, even when the size and shape of the tissue or organ appear normal.
Vertigo_17 said:There's a difference when you/I get an MRI and a profootball player. He's the only one in line to have the report done. The radiologist will start working/readling the imaging study as soon as the MRI is complete. They will know something later today.
