Spears Injured

Too Bad, Ben.

I feel for the team, and in particular, the kid , but no way did I see the season, the D, or even the 3-4 hinging on Marcus Spears.

If my levity offends you, put me on ignore,

But I should also point out I am deliberately trying to calm the storms, in particular, Nors' stress.

As anyone with half a brain can easily see.

Oh gosh. The clever 'half a brain' rebuttle ...

It effects the rotation up front and it is crucial to our success that we have quality up there. I consider Spears to be a quality player even though it's yet to be seen.

That said, I was joking with you a little.

Dude all the banter is making me crazy untill there is proven eveidence that spears is indeed our for the season dont cry about it. We're all going on a video and what people said untill the doctor says he's done go on with your lives.

Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells and owner Jerry Jones just lost one of their first-round draft choices for the season after signing him to a five-year, $9.35-million deal with $6.7 million in guarantees just six days ago. That's a huge loss for a team trying to switch to a 3-4 defense because Spears had the versatility to play defensive end or slide over to the nose. He was expected to win the starting job at left end.

Can we resend the contract since it is still within the 7 day waiting period? If so do we get all the signing bonus back to spend on free agents or trade for disgruntled players on other teams like Arrington in DC?

Haven't read a thing that says for the season. Just says lost. Also doesn't have any results from the MRI.

Still need something more official than that, IMO.

You put Spears on IR for the season and get him back next year. Injuries happen you deal with it and move on.

Food for thought:

If the 3-4, our defense getting better, and the season rests on the injury of a rookie, where were we really before he got hurt?

Perspective people.;)

I'm still waiting on you to provide some ...

That one particular blurb does say for the season. But it's in the 'who's not hot' section AFTER the article saying they don't know how long he's out. So I'm taking that with a grain of salt. Until I see an official article instead of a small blurb I'm assuming that is incorrect.

i dont see that anywhere but if its' true oh no, oh no, this is very very bad news

It is in the mid day report, in the same report the mention not knowing the extent of the Injury. Likely sloppy journalism from the idiot staff at dallascowboys.com (i.e. Eatman, Spagnola, etc.)

I think Rob Phillips is jumping to conclusions. or, just mis-writing.
There is no final word yet. Let's all wait for MRI/X-Ray results.

Yeah, it says for the season... but I'm not convinced until I see a full article instead of a little blurb. Could be that the columnist got carried away with speculation.

If he's not gone for the year, then I'm going down to Oxnard. I'm gonna find whoever wrote this blurb for DC.com shove his keyboard down his throat.

From a character standpoint I sure hate to hear that, because Spears is a class act. He definately sounds like one of the good guys with all the press and stories we've heard to date.

But from a competitive standpoint, I'm not really worried. We still have options and should still be able to make plays.

This is the bad part of waiting six months........:bang2: If we had no luck at all it'd still be bad. Un-freakin-believeable.

This is what it says:
The Cowboys might have lost first-round pick Marcus Spears for a significant period of time.
The rookie defensive end was carted off the field during Friday morning's practice after suffering knee, ankle and groin injuries while trying to make a tackle during team drills.
"We'll MRI and X-ray it," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said, "but it wasn't good."
Spears, who signed a five-year, $9.35 million deal with $6.7 million guaranteed last Saturday, got tangled up in a pile during a run by Anthony Thomas in team drills. He tried to get up on his own but couldn't put any weight on his right leg, and two teammates eventually helped him to the sideline.
After trying to walk off the injury, Spears limped across the field to the training table and got his leg examined by team trainers. He then was carted back to the club's locker room, clutching his leg with a mixture of pain and disappointment on his face.
Parcells had little information on Spears' injury during his daily news conference.
"I don't know," Parcells said. "We'll know here in a little while. I don't want to speculate because I don't know myself."
Spears had been working at second-team left end behind Kenyon Coleman throughout camp, though Parcells said he purposely has not played all his potential starters together until after the second preseason game. Spears practiced with the first team during the May mini-camp.
I think he's got good potential," Parcells said. "But he needs a lot of work."
Seventh-round pick Jay Ratliff will likely slide into Spears' spot with the second team.

--- never says hes done for the year---

were deep enough at this position where he shouldnt be too badly missed....we still have all of our other pieces and the defensive line is pretty deep anyway....we will see

But the tears won't stop. Do you have a kleenex?

I don't think this changes Parcells plan for the defense

LOL - you're naive to think it doesn't change the plans a litte. Sure, things may still be on course, but it'll change some plans ...
