I'd say (IF Spears is finished for the year) that we scrap the 3-4, put Ware at DE and have Burnett, Dat and Singleton (or Brady) at LB.

Probably even be a better defense actually.

I liked the looks of a 4-3 better even before the injury, MIchael, but I don't expect us to scrap it just because a big run stuffing rookie got injured...IF we scrap the 3-4 at any point, it will be because we can't stop the run or get the pressure from our LBs.

Witten played DE in college too, so what? Glover isn't gonna play DE. He's a Pro Bowl TACKLE.

If the Cowboys are scrapping the 3-4 just because of one injury, then they never should have been using it in the first place. It's 3-4 or bust baby!

He can't play football this year and he can't have kids.

I'll also contradict the notion that Spears was the key to our draft, or anyone's....there's a reason we took Ware first...we could afford for someone else to draft Spears, but we knew few were interested because he's not a pass rusher...we couldn't afford to have someone scoop up Ware....you can't play the 3-4 without a great OLB who can get to the QB...you can find big DL who play DE in the 3-4, and we have pretty good depth there this year.

Gee, I'm usually the guy seeing the weaknesses on this team...I can't believe I'm the positive one here...it's a loss, but Spears is NOT and was NOT the key to our season....last reports were that he might not get on the field as soon as at first expected due to Coleman's play.

Let's not over-react to an injury to a DE who was not expected to be a great pass rusher.
