Could Cowboys trade Barber?

Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports reports via Twitter that he is hearing a former Pro Bowl running back could be dealt to another team within his division before or during the draft. Could be Marion Barber.

Robinson says his initial thought was Clinton Portis, but his trade value just isn't very strong. But factors around Barber (contract, split carries, etc.) make sense.

Recently, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told reporters at the NFL owners meetings in Orlando, Fla., that the club has thought about starting Felix Jones rather than Marion Barber.

While it isn't hard to believe that the Cowboys would consider trading Barber, it's doubtful they would want to trade him within their own division.

Both have bad contracts, can't see either moving. If anyone goes its Choice who could bring a high 3rd or low 2nd. Deep draft for RBs, report really doesn't make sense.

Addai and McGahee both made the probowl in 2008.

I'm going to bet it's one of those two.

If you're trading within the division than no way its a 3rd rounder.

An in the division trade sounds like McGahee to the Browns would be far more likely.

Anyone really really down on Barber should go back and re-watch the first Giants game week 2.

I did the other week when NFL Network replayed it. I was surprised at how quick Barber looked. His last run to set up our go ahead TD was awesome. He made a real quick side step of a tackler at the LOS and raced 35 yards. Of course that was the play he pulled his quad.

I just think he still brings plenty to the table.
Should Felix start? Yes.
Should Felix get as many or more carries than Barber and Choice together? Yes
Is Barber over paid? Yes.

But I still think he's a valuable player for us.

The only team willing to pay Barber's salary in the Div would be the Commanders.

The Eagles just picked up Bell to split with Mccoy.

I wonder if the Saints would take Barber? The Bills, Jets, Seattle, Chargers, Lions?

Barber's value has gone down so what could we get? 4th - 5th round pick? No way...not worth trading him away...Keep him and put him in his former role or make him a Fullback (I wouldn't mind a F Jones - Barber backfield)

Id love to trade Barber for a 2nd, but that isnt happening. If we could squeeze an early 3rd out of someone that would be outstanding too.

Then Choice and Felix could be our two featured back.....and use the draft to add a 3rd.

No, they'd rather ***** and moan about a player that has suddenly lost it despite being post injury. I've been saying this for months and it gets zero notice. It's an inconvenient fact that disrupts their ability to whine so it is ignored.

I agree with you. But granted people said the same thing about Julius

And he would be my 3rd back behind Jones and Choice
