Get WHAT under control?

You must not have been a Cowboys fan too long, you're too rational.41gy#;2571019 said:I'm not going to bash Spencer for messing up one time. Spencer, unlike Barbie, has been a positive addition to the team. He can't help it if he isn't playing on third down. Spencer plays the run very well. He's a strong, physical player. He has all the tools to play opposite of Ware, and the knee injury in the preseason hurt him and the Cowboys. Having him cover kicks after a knee scope was asking for the hamstring injury. That's on the trainers and coaches.
The Cowboys need to part ways with Greg Ellis and cut Barbie Carpenter. Cutting Barbie sends a message to the team. Cutting Ellis, a perpetual complainer, promotes Anthony Spencer. Spencer was having a great camp before the knee injury, and he takes Ellis' job if Phillips doesn't allow Ellis' whining to factor in.
Spencer should fire his agent, and he needs to be sat down and talked to about his behavior. The team is counting on him. They have invested a #1 pick in him. He's better than this. He needs to grow up.

3:13 -- Alex Obomese is the starting left outside linebacker, at least until Greg Ellis gets better or Anthony Spencer signs. For those unfamiliar with Obomese, he's an undrafted free agent whose 14 sacks rank sixth in UTEP history. He was a second-team All-District 17-5A selection at Houston Westbury High. Roosevelt Barnes, Spencer's agent, must be smiling.

I think Calvin Hill has done an admirable job of mentoring these players and it would really stink for all of his hard work to go for naught. It can start with one and build from there if you don't address it. We don't have to know about the disciplinary action at all. It just needs to be addressed in some way, shape, or form internally.
It doesn't have to be anything major... The point should just be made to the "team" that this type of conduct off the field won't be tolerated.

5Stars;2571042 said:Yeah, Wade was like, "Sorry...but I'm gonna have to fine you. 100 dollars. Sorry, really, I'm sorry"!!!
It was a pathetic showing on Hard Knocks from the head coach!
100 dollars?
Wade did not even raise his voice to Spencer! It was like "ah shucks..."

"Go back to Hard Knocks in training camp when linebacker Anthony Spencer blew off a rehab assignment because the power in his place went out. Phillips said he would fine him, but the coach said it with all the power of a substitute teacher.
"Spencer needed to be jumped at that moment. And so did rookie tight end Martellus Bennett for his eyebrow-raising toward position coach John Garrett. Set a tone so the young players understand what is and isn't unacceptable. Phillips expects his players to be professional. What if they don't know what that means exactly?"
jobberone;2571103 said:BFD. I'm a lot more worried about him being a disciplined football player, knowing and doing his assignments.
Bleu Star;2571129 said:Yeah. No big deal. Let's just dismiss the fact that he was kicking someone's *** while intoxicated and possibly jeopardizing his ability to "be a disciplined football player, knowing and doing his assignments". If he can't make it to the field because he's serving probation who's winning?
This is a minor issue in the grand scheme of things but this is also Wade's golden moment to enact some of that "change" he preached the days following that *** kicking we took from the beagles.

So what do you think Jerry and Wade should do re: this incident?Bach;2571156 said:Well, Jerry and Wade said there would be change.
I guess no mister nice guys.
jobberone;2571143 said:He wasn't arrested for assault so he obviously didn't kick someone's ***. Agenda. Yada yada yada. I hope you're more forgiving with your kids.
