That good football came only last year when I believe he was playing to boost his monies potential. It all went downhill when he was franchised, so he decided he was hurt and didn't want to play for Jerra, the guy who has signed his checks.

So he just decided to get a significant knee injury? If they are considering micro-fracture surgery then it isn't a minor thing. It was just bad luck.

Well, yes, neither of us was in the doctor's consultation room.
But, realistically, both of our chronically/chronicly injured veterans have gone down with injuries. Both had bones to pick with Jerra. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not.

As far as "significant" I just think that doctors always do business on the theory that more is more and leave nothing to doubt -- or to a lawsuit.
I just don't believe Spencer or Ratliff as far as i can throw either.

To answer your question, I don't think he decided to get a "significant" knee injury. Significant? Well, you are the medical expert here, so I will defer to you on that. ("significant" eye roll)

I'll be surprised if we ever see Spencer play another down in Dallas.

If anyone truly believes Spencer is faking an injury then I would have to question their sanity.

No he is trying to avoid a procedure that has some downsides to it and looking at the best option. If you are given option by the doctor wouldn't you weight the options out? Come on use your head for more than a hat rack

Like ah said: "he wants to review his options."

Also, ah heard that less use of the head contributes to longevity, so I like to avoid thinking that much, unless I am making a tomato, cheese and avocado sandwich.

i am troubled by your use of anyone/their. Look, rephrase it this way: "Kind and well-informed sir, if anyone truly believes Spencer is faking an injury, I would have to question his sanity." Or, alternately, you could use the word "her" if you are being inclusive of the sexes.

And the word faking is kinda vague. Faking can be by degree. If you think athletes do not fake injury (after they are paid), then you are really naive. And i say that in a kind way, as in an innocent.

Otherwise I am a big fan of your posts.

Something went haywire with those two players...it just does not look right or logical for Spencer to snag 10 mill this season without knowing all along his knee was jacked, and Ratliff is getting paid to rest up. Something don't smell right...

I doubt they play again, at least for the Cowboys. But, hey, they helped out when they played. So, good on them.

Let the other players make some money. New kids on he block...

p.s. please send me that money you owe me, or at least send back my kangaroo!

I don't think he is faking anything his knees probably aren't 100% hes 30 and has played football since a kid. I just think they got worse once Lee signed his new contract and i think its kinda funny that the knee thing came up right after Lee's contract.
Time to move on from players like this and stop wasting big money on average players that is all he is.

If Spencer goes through the surgery his value will drop in FA. I wouldn't mind having him back for cheap. I don't think he's faking the injury; especially when he's playing for a big contract. He's been lazy at times in the past, but I highly doubt he fakes an injury of this magnitude

Spencer is done as a burnt hamburger.

Over done burgers rock, jus' take er easy on the high end.....from the time he was drafted Spencer has been some really expensive mystery meat, that's best served burt just like his 3.4 LB pass coverage play from day 1.

To his demise the 4/3 would have suited him better; as Demarcus "Tenderloin" Ware.

That's right Bill Parcels, Ware is a better 4/3 DE than 3/4 OLB,........DUH!

I read the exact same posts at the end of last season.

I know but him unexpectedly missing the entire season with an injury makes me think he's not going to be back next season. I could be wrong but I'm basing my opinion on the fact the Cowboys had him play under the franchise tag last season and although he ended up having his best season in 2012 they still couldn't come to an agreement with him on a long-term deal prior to this season. He entered the 2013 season once again playing under the franchise tag. Now with him turning 30 in Jan and missing the entire season I just don't think it's very likely the Cowboys are going to come around with a long-ternm contract that pays him what he wants.

It's all going to come down to what moves the Cowboys make in free agency and what they do in the draft. My feeling is if they really liked Spencer they would have come to an agreement on a contract prior to the season. If they couldn't come to an agreement on a long-term deal after the season he had in 2012 I can't see them coming to an agreement now after watching him miss the entire season. Who knows what kind of player he'll be in 2014 after missing an entire season.

Spencer's season ending injury will destroy his value next year.

I don't think he is going to find an easy time getting paid a large multi year deal with anyone. And that last thing he wants to start doing is playing year by year on prove yourself contracts potentially with different teams.

We might be able to get Spencer for the long run much cheaper now. Which would save us from having to draft someone early next year.
