Spencer returning to practice this week

I just hope it's less than six weeks so they don't look foolish for taking him off of PUP.

If he had been on PUP he wouldn't have been able to practice until two weeks before he came off it. Having him on the active roster allows them to ease him into practice earlier.

Even if it is six weeks, I think it's worth it to have him practicing the whole time. He'll be in better football shape when he's back. Besides, what would they gain with his roster spot? There isn't exactly a big contributor out there they could use instead.

i would guess this week would be about seeing how the knee handles the work. if there is normal reaction then the next couple weeks would be about getting him in game shape.

When he's practicing a good bit and is actually going to play, and contribute, then I'll care about what Spencer is doing. Until then just the same old same old.

But if it ends up being only a matter of a week earlier, I would consider it to be a bad and unnecessary move.

Williams.

I wonder if practicing a little bit in some way mean...Wearing shorts and a T shirt while riding a bicycle and watching practice across the field.

I'd hazard a guess and say some individual drills, no team practice, and then off to the side for more rehab stuff.

Yep...I mean it is encouraging but not really exciting or expecting much at this point.
Have to be honest and say that I would be shocked if he contributes any significant time on the field for this team. Probably similar to last year when he finally got in and was out again.

i would think thats about right. i suspect this is all about seeing how the knee reacts to work. and then go from there

Garrett was very evasive about Romo, why does the head coach say to the media that "you should ask Romo about that"?.

If placed on PUP, Spencer would have been ineligible to PRACTICE until AFTER week 6. Not only play, but PRACTICE as well.

Additionally, in the event that Spencer is not going to be able to contribute this season, the team should be able to determine that soon, rather than week 7, 8, or 9 and try to adjust the roster accordingly. The Cowboys appear to have gained 4 full weeks in either getting the player in shape to play, or moving on without him.

Jerry makes enough REALLY dumb moves without trying to add the semi-rational ones to the list.

Yes per Spags "and Anthony Spencer tells me he’s planning on at least starting individual drills at some point this week in practice."

We don't know if that's the case though. So what if it's a week early? He needs to get into playing shape and that's what he's doing.
