For a number of reasons. The main reason is that because he was a part of this organization at such a young age, he might actually try to trick himself into thinking he knows something about football or how to run a successful organization.

We can't really separate him from Jerry, so I get that his reputation gets lumped in with Jerry's by default. I do think he's curbed the big FA spending tendencies we used to have. And I keep going back to how much respect Parcels had for Stephen when he was here. Parcels was a pretty good judge of coaches and management in my book.

Overall, though, I think people somehow underestimate the influence of Jerry Jones on the organization. It's Jerry's world, and everybody just lives in it. The problems we've had since Barry left (lol) are mostly related to Jerry, and nobody in the organization has the power to change it. He's built up a four billion-dollar empire doing things his way, and he's going to run it. He's not going to defer to his employees or his sons when it comes down to it. They can advise, and he probably does listen most of the time, but when it comes down to it, he's going to wildcat and nothing is going to change that.

I'm with you on '08, except '15 was worse in my book, only because of the reversal of expectations. We gotta rein Jerry in on the risks with the wrong sorts of troubled players.

But if we're going to take them, I'd like them structured like we structured Hardy, at least. I'd just like to see us pull the rip-cord on these guys much sooner. It's one thing to take a chance on a Rolando McClain if you think there's value there (because he is a damn good football player when he wants to be). It's another to keep him around so long after he's proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that he doesn't want to be a part of the team. Same with Hardy. Bring him in, fine. But whatever he did that made him a persona-non-grata should have gotten him removed from the roster on the spot.

Guys like Gregory, who I think has a legitimate emotional condition, I have in a different category. Help them if you can and if you think they can help the team. Just don't count on them going forward. If they give you anything, it's gravy.

Jerry's going to take his shots on troubled players. We just have to do it in a way that doesn't cost us premium picks and that doesn't put a slow-burn on the team chemistry. I don't know if that's possible or not, but if it is, I do think it happens with guys like Stephen and Garrett pushing hard for it all the time and as a united front.

probably what makes 08 so bad for me is that romo came back from the finger injury and they played so well against washington, seattle, san francisco and ny.

then they had a tough play with that punt that hit our guy can't remember who against pittsburgh which swung the momentum. The loss to baltimore....and then the no show at Philly.

Throw in the first rounder for roy williams, which I thought at the time was a good idea so I am guilty of that also.

It was just such an up and down thing.

Then to have the #1 seed in NY do exactly what Dallas did in 07 and lose to Philly at home and have a pretty average Arizona team go to the Super Bowl....man, that season is just a killer for me.

No he didn't. He inherited a 1-7 team that had given up and had way too many aging veterans who were simply done.

Andre Gurode, Keith Brooking, Bradie James, Kyle Kosier, Leonard Davis, Marion Barber, Patrick Crayton, Marcus Spears, Jay Ratliff, Gerald Sensabaugh, Montrae Holland, Igor Olshansky.....

Romo and Witten were the young guns. Then there was Miles Austin, Felix Jones, Mike Jenkins.....dudes that were always hurt and overrated.

Nope..............the team was 11-5 the year prior under Wade. They got some injuries in training camp and did poorly the first few games, then Romo went down in game 5 and that was it.

So if it was a 1-7 team then how did they go 5-3 the next 8 games without Romo? See how your argument doesnt pull together there? With Romo, that team probably goes 7-1 the last 8 games and wins a few more before he got injured.

And lets not forget that poor Wade was saddled with the horrid Garrett as his OC during his tenure. No doubt if he had a say Garrett would have never been on his staff.
