The Rams will get a guy that I believe will be a very good head coach for many years, and we either get another year of donut man, or Shanahan. I would rather have Shanahan or Gruden than the Captain.

I know this, I'm going to be interested to read the spin around here if Garrett does well. I'm sure it will be something along these lines. "I never doubted that he could do well somewhere else, he just wasn't the fit here." yadayadayadayada.

No foresight, no guts, or no belief in the guy. In my opinion there aren't any other choices.

Either Jerry Jones missed it again.

Or Jerry Jones didn't have the guts to pull the trigger, fire Phillips, cut TO loose and keep Garrett

Or he just flat didn't believe in the guy compared with his boy Wade, or his friend Shanahan, or whomever else Jerry chooses.

If Garrett doesn't pan out, then Jerry and some others on the board were right.

If Garrett turns out to be a good one, I don't think you can say anything else except you missed it and you were wrong.

One thing that just doesn't fly with me is that standing pat with Wade Phillips is because it just "isn't time".

There are a whole lot of other non-playoff teams like us who aren't playing it safe at the moment and choosing continuity. And my bet is that if Garrett leaves, we may not either.

******. Freaking Rams. I'm sad to see RJ go, I thought he could have been decent HC material here.

Hopefully he falls flat on his face and everything's fine. There's a certain continuity with the Rams, with Linehan being a former Miami coordinator, Garrett a Miami QB coach coordinator via Dallas...hopefully Garrett fails just as badly as Linehan.

It isn't a rumor any more.

Unless something really weird happens, he's their HC.

I agree with this. They are trying to spin this off here in St. Louis as though it's a "second interview," but you don't bring the wife here on a second interview. And the timing all points to a hiring.

I would bet this is the "numbers" interview, and as long as the numbers work they will introduce him tomorrow or Monday. It should be easy to get the numbers done since Garrett and Devaney have the same agent.

He IS decent HC material, but he wasn't going to be one here for at least another year and didn't feel like waiting.

If he's gone, he's gone. There are currently 4 teams in the playoffs that made it there without him, we can too.

I'm not going to shed a tear for the guy. He should have stayed and didn't want to. It happens.

Didn't want to? :rolleyes:
If you get offered a HC job, you don't turn it down. He was stupid to turn the Falcons and Ravens down last year, he wasn't going to make the same mistake twice.

Yes, he didn't want to. If he wanted to stay, he'd be here.

He wanted to be a HC, couldn't be one here, so he went somewhere that he could. It doesn't seem that complicated to me.

u never know maybe they had a private meeting or jerry got him on the phone..

I just wish Jerry would do something with Wade before Green Bay decides on a DC. My 1st on the list for Ted Thompson to get would be Wade. The guy may have his problems as HC but he can coach a defense.

I'm just a little tired of teams giving the merest nod to the Rooney Rule.

why? the nfl has had an over representation of black coaches now since the rooney rule. i am sick of the PC crap of it. so blacks are about, 12 to 1 5 pct of population, how many jobs out of 32 shoud be ideally held by blacks?

As of November 3, 2008:

  1. === 49ers: Mike Singletary ===
  2. === Steelers: Mike Tomlin ===
  3. === Browns: Romeo Crennel ===
  4. === Bengals: Marvin Lewis ===
  5. === Colts: Tony Dungy ===
  6. === Chiefs: Herm Edwards ===
  7. === Bears: Lovie Smith ===
if they are gonna have a rooneh rule, maybe we need the some kind of rule for the white guys coming out of college.

I always liked Garrett but maybe a chnage is for the best. Impliment some better game plans that use our strenghts.

All the Ram's fans complaining changed their mind?

St. Louis Dispatch - "Rams GM Billy Devaney insists that he has not offered Jason Garrett the team's head-coaching position despite Garrett's Friday flight to St. Louis. The Rams are calling it a "second interview," even though Garrett already had his finalist interview in L.A. and Devaney said Thursday that "interviews are done." News Garrett might become Rams coach was not received well by fans. He received a 4% approval rating in an online poll of 9,000 and the Rams' ticket offices were "flooded with angry calls" on Friday." Jan. 17 - 12:09 pm et

What happened was Rams fans reacted angrily and they changed course. Jason garrett has proved himself an utter failure and nobdy wants him. We are stuck with him.

If rumors are true regarding Shanahan, this made Garret expendeable, because Garrett would have to wait out his turn. Further, Shanahan is a West-Coast offense guy, not a "Air Coryell" offense, so what exactly is Garrett going to contribute?

Maybe Jerry is going to pay Shanahan to be an offensive consultant to help Garrett...
