and yet fans are the most fickled, if by chance the Cowboys do win a SB do the fans then change their tune? Of course fans themselves are wrong, if fans had their ways Landry would have been ran out of Dallas early on in his career. Of course this statement is always followed up by someone claiming I am making a comparison between Landry and Jason. I'm not my point is fans where dead wrong on Landry and thankfully he had an owner and GM who stuck by him despite what fans wanted. Now you can't find anyone who would have claimed they would have fired Tom.

Everybody's "dead wrong" at some point or another. Fans, owners, coaches, players, whoever. Anyone who's ever made a decision has made a bad one. Nobody's infallible.

Speaking for myself, "if by chance the Cowboys do win a SB", I'll certainly "change my tune". I'll gladly admit I was wrong about Jason Garrett. Maybe I'll even go so far as to put something acknowledging it in my signature? If it means that this team will have won a Super Bowl, I'll gladly cop to just about anything.

Half this board wanted Jeff fisher

One of my worst scenerios I can see playing out in 2017......Garrett fired....Fisher hired as Cowboys coach...as the Cowboys/Rams implode:banghead:

I think I would be seriously looking @ my Cowboy affiliation card:rolleyes:

The year when they stripped him of all play-calling responsibilities, no-less.

Apparently, less is more. I agree that the further removed from play-calling he is, the better.

We likely were. And guess what? No matter what the Joneses decided to do with their money, it doesn't make it 'right'. Timing is everything, and luckily for Garrett, he had his best season in his 'contract year'. We can talk for a long time about plenty of other players and coaches the Joneses have wasted millions of dollars on. Doesn't make any of those moves 'right' either.

And I'll always be on the 'fans' votes matter' wagon. They're the ones that actually pay the bills that make everything possible.

We're not talking about 'right' here. We're talking about what people will pay for. The things people pay for and the things the fans want aren't always the same thing.

The problem with your argument here is that fans being happy and fans paying the bills don't always go hand in hand, either. The Cowboys are going to make money almost irrespective of who the coach is, which gives the Jones family the luxury of working with who they want to work with.

That said, we've got a good coaching staff anyway. And I say that knowing what the team's record has been recently.

I'm not going to get into the whole 'can't lose' formula that the NFL's billionaire owners have going for themselves. It would hijack this threw even further. I'm aware of the dynamics of it and the fact that the only thing I have control over is my own opinion and my own money. What other people do with theirs is their own business.

That said, we've got a good coaching staff anyway. And I say that knowing what the team's record has been recently.

And I put this statement with the rest of the "fan opinions that don't matter" argument.

Look at the roster his first three years. Guys like Cook, Kowalski, Dockery, the corpse of Kosier, Nagy, Livings, Conner, Butler, Brooking, Wynn, Everette, Allen, Sims, and Lawrence all started for those teams.

Having one or two week links like TWill and Church on the roster is bad enough but if 50% of your snaps are going to below replacement levela dn I don't care if prime Landry is out there, he isn't winning. Going 8-8 with that garbage was not a poor performance.

Mods just need to send this thread to the "Rant Zone"...the silliness is maddening.

That does not mean a whole lot. If mediocre head coaches like Mike Mularkey can find employment multiple times, so will Garrett.

Never underestimate how lazy NFL teams are to stray outside the box when making choices for their head coaches.

We might replace Garrett with Dave Campo again. lol

Are you saying my post is rant worthy?

Not quite sure what your question means, but I'm not at all saying you're ranting...quite the opposite. It's most of the others that are ranting. Now if you're asking if your post will attract rants, it probably will. There is a group that will seize every opportunity to rant, no matter the subject or how uncredible they come across . I put you in the very sane category of posters. :)

see that is my problem with garrett. sure the team played hard but really garrett gave the team no chance to win. he could have changed the playbook and play to the teams strengths and run behind the online more and adjusted the passing game to fit the qbs we had last year. a better coach would have won atleast three games without romo. the defense played well in some of the losses but the offense was beyond sorry. I am sorry if some of you guys like garrett I think the guy is a joke.

We actually did that. It worked for about a half then teams realized our QBs were useless. Once the didn't fear the QB they could snub out our run game. When it got to the point in the game that we had to pass more, we could and did get better runs but our awful QBs couldn't get anything done

Campo did more with less. Garrett is one of the biggest frauds in contemporary sports history.

Not a single team would hire the guy who has been stripped of all play calling duties for anything more than a position coach goof.

And yet Romo, Dez, Murray, Witten, Scandrick, and a dozen others think the world of Garrett as a coach.

How many plays does Pete Carroll call? How many did Jimmy Johnson? That's irrelevant.

Garrett is a completely different person to the team than he is to the media or us. That's by all accounts.

Football 101: Never listen to the fan base when our comes to coaches or quarterbacks.

his time is short to win a championship so I guess we will see if he stays long after tony retires just how good of a coach he is. I really don't believe it matters though because as long as jerry runs the team there chances of winning anything are next to nil.
