Spurs are better than your team.

It's a heck of a team.

I've been a Spurs fan since the days of the "Iceman" (and if the team didn't score 120, it wasn't trying).

These "dream team" scenarios scare me... Almost begs for something bad to happen. LOL!

Bingo!

Big fan of Duncan/spurs but.... The OP just pulled a Michael Vick! Lol

we still need at least one more decent wing, but I love what we have done so far this offseason for the most part.

You're right about the wing, need one more that can spot up and hit the 3. Also need a big body C that can be physical when needed and a PG ball handler.
Those are my 3 wishes for filling out the roster.

I'm definitely excited, but the West is still an absolute gauntlet. I'm concerned with how long it will take everyone acclimated in the system, because you can't really give up games in the West. They could be anywhere from 1st to 5th with this roster - because of how good the other teams still are. GSW is still good. Houston is still good. OKC is healthy. Dallas got better. The Grizz are still good. It's not going to be a cake walk by any means.

It usually comes down to which teams can stay healthy. I don't worry about them getting acclimated, Pop is so good at working different looks and rotations during the season.

In most cases, yes - but the Spurs run such a system that it takes some time for people to know their exact role. Once they do, it works. Look at how the Spurs played all year until they got Splitter back. They didn't have their full lineup until about 3/4 of the way through the season. Once they did, they rattled off about 12 in a row. Then he got injured again, and they struggled. And it's not because Splitter is an overwhelming talent. The pieces just fit.

But yes, health is the ultimate importance for a team to succeed.

Spurs vsPHI summer league thoughts.

Milutinov did not play he is trying to qualify the Serbian national team.

Second round pick Lalanne was the primary defender on 3rd overall pick Okafur. Held him under 50% shooting but fouled entirely too much. Poor defensive footwork and hand placement limited his ability to be physical. Did have some success defending but inconsistent. Physical rebounder and an outside shot. No post game whatsoever.

Former first rounder Livio Jean Charles started off slow. Seemed surprised by the athleticism he faced and was tenative. That led to dropped passes, missed rebounds, poor rotations and all manner of issues. Settled down and played better in the second half. Love seeing young players respond to adversity like that. Started getting to passes and loose balls and showed. Has good court vision on defense and his help rotation started getting home. Ended up with a couple of blocks for his effort including the pivotal swat with time running down. Much more of a forward than a guard. No ball handling skills on display. Still young, raw and Toros bound.

Kyle Anderson - Made incremental improvement on his weak point: upper body strength. Still not where he needs to be. Willing to stick his nose in on rebonds, scrums and the like unlike last year. STill can handle the ball and break down defenders on pnr and isos. Shot was off and I was hoping to see more.

Casper Ware - undersized but very quick. Hit his outside shot and looked in control running the offense. Encouraging first impression.

Dairis Bertans - Spurs ran several plays for him and he seemed to convert all of them. Showed catch and shoot skills, spot up shot and the ability to attack the lane on close outs. Didn't notice much one way or the other on defense. Philly was intent on feeding Okafur the ball limiting the need for him to defend. Poor man's Marco Bellinelli.

Darian Atkins - his shot was awful and the Sixers realized that and started playing off him to clog the lane. Several airballs and bricks each. Appears Engelland is working on his form but he has a long way to go.

The spurs are for sure stacked. But the best team doesn't always win it all.

Sure but when looking at super teams that have been put together over the years, most of them ending up ringing. Wilt to the Lakers, Kareem to the Lakers, Malone to the 76ers, Drexler to Rockets, Garnett to Celtics, Pau to Lakers, James to Heat.

Sure Barkley to Rockets and Malone to Lakers didn't work but I like the odds.

I live in Oregon and have followed Aldridge's career. He isn't a physical low post defender. So I guess on offense he can play center, but don't know what Spurs are gonna do on d for center.

He's not playing center on either end. nor does he wants to., who plays in the post vs who plays high will be based on other factors on offense, I'm sure.

And another solid acquisition in PG Ray McCallum, from the Kings. The Spurs are making all the right moves. Feels so good to be a Spurs fan.

That was a solid pick-up, I really like it. I think spending some time with Chip Engelland is really gonna help his game.

I think Duncan defends the low post, like he's done for awhile and West will defend low post as well. West is a bit undersized, but plays physical and tough. LMA and Bobo will defend the high post and elbows. There's fewer and fewer dominant low post players in the NBA. I do think they need another big body to bang inside and use some fouls as a back up.

He's taking Cory Joseph's spot and will more than fill that role. I agree with you about Chip helping his game.
