Spurs are better than your team.

Ray's the son of a coach... pretty smart kid... highly recruited out of hs... went to Detroit because of pops

I checked out some highlights and scouting on him from a Spurs forum. Consensus was kid's got good BBIQ, decent defense, can run an offense, but lacks a consistent outside shot. Chip will help him with that. Kid showed marked improvement when Karl showed up, that was positive sign. Having a quality and consistent coaching staff is gonna be huge for the kid.

shooting is definitely his weakness.

On d he is. (Aldridge)

You haven't watched him play then. His FG% against guarding the post is excellent. He is also very good on pnr but that is more about movement skills. If you want to say he's a mediocre rim protector I will agree.

This is FG% against around the rim. He forces bad shots rather than block shots.

Well in Portland and with his fanbase he was never known for his d. Being in Oregon and watching all Blazer games. Still don't see his man to man d as top tier. Guess we have different viewpoints. Peace.

That is the difference between you and I. I know that on average as a post defender he is top 10 in the league by efficiency. You feel that he is a bad defender.

The San Antonio Spurs sign the Serbian giant Boban Marjanović
7'4" standing reach of 9'7"

2014-2015 was his best year as a pro. He played 27 minutes a game, had 16.6 points and 10.7 rebounds per game. FG at 62% and FT at 78%
Good FT shooter, so no "Hack -A-Boban", which is a good thing since it sounds rather painful!

I'll have to do some internet scouting on this new guy, Boban Marjanović. He wasn't on my radar. I hope he can fill Baynes shoes.

Won't find too much. Here's a little:

„More than just a dominant force, center Boban Marjanovic produced a record-breaking season in leading Crvena Zvezda to new Euroleague heights. The Euroleague's tallest player at 2.20 meters, Marjanovic set new Euroleague marks for the most rebounds (256) and double-doubles (16) in a season. His 25.7 performance index rating average was the competition's highest in 10 years, as were his 10.7 rebounds. Marjanovic was the Euroleague's runner-up in scoring with 16.6 points in 24 games. He earned weekly MVP honors three times and posted six of this season's top 20 performances based on index rating. Marjanovic also ranked fourth in fouls drawn (4.6) and free throws made (4.2). He scored in double digits in 23 of 24 games. This is his first All-Euroleague selection," are the words about the starting center of Crvena zvezda Telekom on the official website of Euroleague.

He must be stoked knowing he's playing for the Spurs.

The final run next season. The west is stacked:

Golden State - defending champs
Spurs - the gang back for another year plus Aldridge
Clippers - Jordan stays and they add Pierce

Rockets
Thunder
Grizzlies

Paul was a freakin freak against the Spurs this year in the playoffs but outside that series, he was less than spectacular, i.e. the next series. You can say the same thing for Griffin. The work ethic is not there so the Clippers are at the bottom of the list of serious contenders. Sure they beat the Spurs, but that was their Championship. I think the Spurs can handle the Warriors. They're one dimensional outside shooting team. Pop will have an answer. Rockets have Howard so nothing to worry about there. Thunder have ball hogging Westbrook and the Grizzles haven't improved much but they'd be a tough out for the Spurs because of their physicality.

Boban Marjanovic highlights Euroleague 2013-2014

Boban Marjanovic highlights Euroleauge 2014-2015

Sweet Pass

Reports from Serbia
7'4" standing reach 9'7" wingspan 7'8"
Bobi is classic PER player, racking up points and rebounds, high fg%, almost no fouls at all.
He is a solid mid range threat, and if left unguarded can score over 50 or 60% of his looks from midrange.
Has nice hands and can catch all sorts of lobs. If he gets the ball anywhere inside 8ft, he is unstoppable, or at least he was in Europe.
He is fairly slow, but has improved considerably over this past season and is not liability he used to be. He will have to do a lot of adapting to
catch up with NBA pace. Also has a tendency to bring the ball down, may be susceptible to steals by quick-handed guards
Has made huge improvements in his game from last season to this season.

Euroleague numbers
24 Games
27.3 Min/Gm
16.6 Pts/Gm
.621 FG %
.781 FT %
10.7 Reb/Gm
1.0 Assist/Gm
.4 Stl/Gm
.9 Blk/Gm

Something tells me Coach Messina had something to do with us getting Boban Marjanovic. I hope he works out, I see potential.

We also added a SG from the Austin Spurs who shoots 3s rather well.

That leaves 1 spot left. I wouldn't be upset if it went to Bertans from the summer league team, however, it will probably go to some player completely out of left field.
