The problem with putting a receiver back there is they're trained to catch the ball, not knock it down so it's best to have defensive players back there who are trained to defend passes.

That's why we want Dez back there. :muttley:

- Send 5

- Keep everything in front

If all else fails, hope the refs aren't too far down Rodger's jockstrap to miss the obvious offensive PI

Cardinals rushed 6 on this Hail Mary -- ultimately leaving too few guys left in the end-zone.

I'm not sure I'm an advocate for rushing any more than 4. I think there is an argument to rush only 3.

If you put Dez in this situation, I think 9 times out of 10 he touches the ball first. He is that good at getting to a ball in the air.

There are too many bodies all clumped together and jostling. PI won't get called 95% of the time.

You have a few defenders bumping and a few others jumping.

We don't want him catching it, we want him to knock it down, although he could probably get away with catching it because he wins jump ball battles.

Rodgers has completed 4 out of his last 5 Desperation / Hail-Mary type of plays in the past 15 months -- good for 4 TDs and 1 interception.

Cowboys are winning 35-31 in the 4th quarter with 1 second left on the clock. Packers have the ball on the 50.

You are the coach -- what do you have the defense do?

My personal opinion is I am putting Dez, Williams, and maybe even Witten in the end-zone to help knock it down.

Knock it down...

If its an obvious PI like the Cobb catch where a defender appears to be doing the moonwalk you have to call it

Put in Dez, trust Jones and Mo, and try to keep Rodgers from rolling out of the pocket to either direction. I'd be pretty happy with that game situation, honestly. We don't give up a lot of those types of big passing plays.

Dez. Put him in the back of the end zone. No one is getting behind him. Jones, Carr and Wilcox in the front of the endzone to box people back.

I think this had more to do with the fact that the right end #93 didn't contain (I also can't tell from this one shot if he was being held) but if he contained the help from the extra man was right where it was supposed to be.

And Byron, who might be the best jumper.

I don't think I've ever seen a PI call on a Hail Mary. I'm sure there has been but I haven't seen it.

Go look at the famous Fail Mary play where the Seahawks beat the Packers on a Hail Mary and you will see one of the more open and obvious offensive pass interference plays you will ever see by Golden Tate.

You don't always want it knocked down, you may want it batted out the back of the endzone if it's deep enough. So many bodies a knock down can bounce around off players and/or into a receiver's hands.

That should have been called too.

Just the one that ended naming the play...
