For me. There will only, ever, be one Hail Mary! The rest are sad imitations at the very best.;).
The original Hail Mary is quite different than the ones today.

Staubach was essentially heaving a deep ball to Pearson into double coverage. We see that quite a bit today.

Nowadays it's 4 or 5 receivers and 7 or 8 DB's in a complete free for all in the end zone.

But like Corn Flakes, the original is always the best.

Rodgers has completed 4 out of his last 5 Desperation / Hail-Mary type of plays in the past 15 months -- good for 4 TDs and 1 interception.

Cowboys are winning 35-31 in the 4th quarter with 1 second left on the clock. Packers have the ball on the 50.

You are the coach -- what do you have the defense do?

My personal opinion is I am putting Dez, Williams, and maybe even Witten in the end-zone to help knock it down.
Cut Sanchez and sign Keyshawn Johnson to a 1 week contract

If this is the worst situation the Cowboys face I'll take my chances.

Keyshawn is old.

Rent LaBron James for a week. He's a huge Cowboys fan. He'd do it for free.

And it would be all over.
Im actually serious. Does LeBron play on (basketball) Sunday? If not it's seriously a good idea.

If I'm the coach the score would be 35-13 Cowboys so i wouldn't have to worry about a Hail Mary

Don't put Brandon Carr back there as he'd probably tip the ball right into GB receiver's arms.

FRISCO
Morris Claiborne, when asked if he had ever had a Hail Mary caught on him, thought for a second. Then, the Cowboys cornerback quickly knocked on his locker behind him.

“Knock on wood,” Claiborne said.

Told it might not be real wood, Claiborne said, “Close enough.”

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has hit three last-gasp plays in 13 months, including at the end of the first half Sunday. His 42-yard pass into the end zone against the Giants landed in Randall Cobb’s hands for a touchdown and a 14-6 halftime lead.

The frequency doesn’t surprise Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr.

“Because they have a pretty good quarterback,” Carr said.

Is this really a topic? Can't they find an interest story or something else rather than are we practicing to defend a hail mary? Put Dez and Irving back there and put pressure on Rodgers.

Nice to see Mo ready to play though. That's a story.

I have no desire to read the article, but I bet Romo is playing the part of Rodgers.

I don't recall Michael Irvin being back on defense in a Hail Mary situation. Maybe my memories are fading. I do remember Alvin Harper being used in those situations. He got an interception against Washington one time. Also scored a TD that game.

Why not drop all 11 guys into coverage? Have the defensive linemen drop 5 to 10 yards and spy on the QB. Now I would only try this with a substantial lead.

I always thought you used wide recievers to help defend hail marys because they match up well height wise. I wouldn't use escobar though.

Mo said today they regularly practice this. We've got Carr, Mo, Scandrick, Brown, Jones, Church, Wilcox, and Heath to put back there. People want Dez out there? Come on. Low probability play and you want a guy who does not practice the play on the field?
