Pro Bowls are popularity contests. They are meaningless, if he made All Pro you had have something to congratulate him about.
fify, cool list. This is the entire list of every skill-position player with at least one All-Pro selection and 9 Pro Bowls, who is NOT yet in the Hall of Fame:
Manning
Gonzalez
Favre
Brady
Witten
hes a replacement at that! #totallymeaningless

At least you're consistent on the subject of Pro-bowls.
Good show!
Did you book his "SF Superbowl" promise. lol
Thats the same dude that claims Orton to Williams is superior to Romo to Dez.
Guy goes to the troll pro bowl, and not as a replacement.

Cowboys tight end Jason Witten will return to the Pro Bowl for a ninth time. He replaces Denver tight end Julius Thomas, who will be in New Jersey for the Super Bowl instead of in Hawaii for the Pro Bowl.
Witten was an alternate behind San Francisco’s Vernon Davis, New Orleans’ Jimmy Graham, Thomas and Cleveland’s Jordan Cameron. He joins teammates Tyron Smith, Dez Bryant and Jason Hatcher for Sunday’s unconferenced All-Star game. Smith, Bryant and Hatcher all are making their Pro Bowl debuts.
Witten earns his ninth Pro Bowl in 11 seasons. He did not make the Pro Bowl in his rookie season of 2003 or in 2011.

Ahhhh.....I see the 3 yard out routes have caught the attention of many.
Congrats JWit. No matter your opinion of the Pro Bowl that is still an accomplishment.
Not really. All Pro is the real accomplishment. Not a goofy Pro Bowl.
maybe Lee since Bowman torn his acl
when he said "no matter your opinion", he was talking about you.
Saying that your opinion doesnt matter.
when he said "no matter your opinion", he was talking about you.
Saying that your opinion doesnt matter.
He averaged close to 12 yards a reception which is right at his career average.
You think they'll have your comment inscribed below his HoF bust?
Ah yes...the sweet smell of condescension. Comes with the territory in the Twilight Zone where you call out a HoFer, get called out on it and come back with high and mighty bathroom humor.
Oh to be a child again.
But hey...I'm just shocked you didn't answer my question with another question.
What was the point of this post?
You seriously don't get what I was conveying?
Really?
I guess I was too obtuse about the matter.
People are lining up congratulating Witten on his Replacement Pro Bowl appearance.
And deserved too, BUT...
Some of those same people are the ones who poo-poo'd Spencer's Replacement Pro Bowl appearance last year and some have denigrated it to the point of it never really should have happened.
I've read posts like that for months and months from multiple posters.
"Spencer was a replacement", "That's not getting selected to the Pro Bowl...", "The guy did nothing for us for years- the Pro Bowl is a popularity contest..."
And on and on ad nauseum. You never read... or posted comments like that? You are on this site too often to not.
I was scoffing at the hypocrisy of it all. The hypocrisy of congratulating Witten's well-deserved Pro Bowl Replacement berth and the minimizing Spencer's Replacement Pro Bowl berth for the past 12 months.
Now- does that make things a bit clearer for you?
I mean- I don't want to be unclear...
Agree or don't agree- I will listen. I've been swayed by many a good argument.
I'm fair. I'd hate for you- of all posters to think I'm too vague to get though.
I understand what you're saying, I'm just not sure I see what you're trying to accomplish. Spencer's nomination was 12 months ago, as you said and you clearly aren't anti-Witten getting in - so I'm not sure what you were hoping to get across here, unless it's to criticize some silly things people might have said a year ago.
