Dan Quinn didn't have to start from scratch. Matt Ryan, Julio....the majority of those pieces were already in place for him when he got there. All he had to do was fix the defense which is still suspect.

Garrett has been there since 2010, more than ample time to fix things and get us to the championship. He hasn't. Not saying he should be fired but still.

Jason Garrett didn’t lose any sleep over his coaching decisions in the Dallas Cowboys’ 34-31 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. The most controversial decision came on the … Click to Continue »

What will it take for people to learn that Linehan calls the offensive plays and Marinelli calls the defense?

I'm sure Jason makes some calls, like whether to punt or go for it, two-point conversion versus 1-point...that kind of thing.

Maybe it was Jason's call to spike...maybe Linehan's...and maybe Dak did it on his own.

We had been moving at will against the Pack defense... it was likely we were going to get 10 yards in two plays.

Now...should we have a set play...a default play for such situations? Yes.
Every play called should go through the Head Coach, that's what headset are for. They normally don't interfere, but as the HC he has every right to. Just saying.

well on the radio this morning jerry didn't agree with him spiking the ball and he also wasn't happy with the playcalling just saying

Interesting.

I know people like to think Jerry is all in on Garrett and he has been up until now. But Jerry is getting old, he knows it and he wants another title. I think another season where the team fizzles in the playoffs and I could see he and Stephen talking possibly making a change. I bet if Garrett doesn't have the Cowboys in a NFC Title game or SB in the next two seasons, he's gone by 2018.

I think we ought to take another fan's interpretation of Jerry's take with a grain of salt. Until we see a transcript or a video, it's tough to say.

Garrett didn't exactly inherit chopped liver here.
HE inherited one of the worst run teams in the league. Is that debatable? A team so good and so reliant on Romo that once he goes down they can't win a game.

This team was a MESS when Garrett got here. We can argue about how much time it should take. Fair enough. But just because it took quicker for Quinn to fix things doesn't mean that's the bar. What has Todd Bowles done since being with the Jets? Marvin Lewis has been with the Bengals how long? It truly is a process. I wanted us to win now more than anyone but what needed to change was this culture around here and Garrett has done that. And he's done it with two hands behind his back with Jerry breathing over his neck.

He should have been sacked about 5 minutes after the 4-12 season. That was/is the real Jason Garrett.

That's the case with almost every team in the league save for a few elite coaches............ they are wildly dependent on their starting QB.

The notion that he inherited some crap team like a Browns team we see now is laughable. He inherited a team with some talent.

The team was 1-7 but had come off winning 2 of the last 3 division titles and had won a playoff game for the first time in 13 years the year before.

Yea, that spike with around 48 seconds left on first down was puzzling. They should have been in the hurry up offense and the Packers secondary playing very loose, would have gobbled up yardage and set themselves up for a TD for the win. And at worst would have a time out left for an easy FG to tie with just a few seconds remaining and then go into overtime.

But oh well, at least Garrett can sleep well. Here is where his inexperience and lack of success in the post season really hurt. I think he panicked. Oh well, all this starts over in a few months. :D
That is still insane to me. You have Rodgers on the other side. Not taking that into account is just amateur.

The biggest mistake was not running the ball (a lot) more, including that last series. We have the best running back and OL in the league and can destroy GB with this weapon, but time and time again Linehan/JG get cute and overly pass happy.

Every team has 'some' talent. Browns have talent. Joe Thomas is a talent. Corey Coleman is a talent. Joe Haden is a talent.

The Cowboys without Romo are essentially the Browns. Or they were before Dak came around.

This organization was poorly ran. And its arguable that they are still poorly ran but they are in a lot better situation now with Garrett then they were with Wade. Its been 6 years and this team hasn't quit. These guys quit on Wade by year 3.

Its not about Rodgers. You aren't thinking about Rodgers in that situation. You are thinking about your team. And you are confident that your team can go down there and score a TD. And he should've been because they were on their way down there to score......one deflection changed that all.

A division talent by default. The Cowboys were a poorly ran organization and were on borrowed time. They lived and died by Romo and once Romo got hurt so did our playoff chances. That's not a "team".

Jason is worse than Marvin Lewis
Lewis was at least a successful DC, Garrett was an awful OC

By spiking the ball you're losing a play
May as well run it and see what you get

Jason is a complete moron who cost us a shot at the SB this year by having the team unprepared and making idiotic decisions throughout the game. Do you think any OC/HC would have a game plan that takes out his best offensive weapon (zeke) on third downs? This guy is just a complete moron and jerry deserves him
Amen. Jimmy Johnson would have run Smith down the packers throat until they stopped him. Rodgers wouldn't have seen the field long enough to throw his phony passes. Garrett is a gutless over educated politician and nothing more!
